Goddam right.

I watched this last night, early Brandon Lee. Awful! Shoddy! Thoroughly entertaining!

Friday night movie sorted - a 2k scan of the original 35mm print, looks gorgeous, for a lovely early Coscarelli picture that has never had a blu release.

Oh my, just binged Scavengers Reign over the weekend: https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81772175

This was so far up my street, I have to imagine it would go down well with folks on here.

Sci-fi survivalist adventure animation show with freaky xenobioligy, and viusally with heavy vibes of Jean Giraud, René Laloux and Miyazaki.

@zuko - I greatly enjoyed Scavenger's Reign. I also felt a heavy Otomo influence in there. At times, the story and animation had me feeling a bit... unwell. I felt this was one of the most intriguing scifi stories and shows in the last few years, and on top of that, the animation was very well done. I have read some stories about viewers consuming psychedelics and watching this show which is wild to me. Highly recommended viewing.

Ah yes, good shout on Otomo. I had that same slight wooziness but a lot of the biological stuff felt more fascinating than outright horror.

Scavenger's Reign was fantastic and in typical WB/HBO fashion the show was immediately cancelled after being quite successful and in their top 5 new releases for a few weeks while it aired. Netflix picked up streaming rights to it which is now where it lives digitally and we can only hope it does well there to warrant them fronting the bill for season 2 which would be awesome.

The score was just released by Mondo this past week and while it's a pre-order for later this year it still qualifies for their free shipping deal so I grabbed it even though I'm not a big fan of long pre-orders

Just rewatched Deliverance, and it’s wild that nobody is credited for the minimalistic underscore, mixture of simple synth and a number of atmospheric variations on Duelling Banjos tune. I’ve scoured the net and come up empty on details!

Canceled? tf? I am at a total loss in this shitshow streaming world.

Total sidebar, but was it here or elsewhere there was a discussion going about the borderline conspiracy theory about the cancellation and now deletion of both Westworld and Raised by Wolves by the HBO/Max streaming catalog? AI concerns? lol

I don't remember seeing any discussion on that but it's all due to the shit stain of a CEO over at Warner, David Zalsav. He doesn't want to pay any of the creators of any thing so he has been removing tons of HBO content from HBO and licensing it to other services so they have to pay the royalties with their licensing costs. He has single handedly killed WB's animation division. Cancelled almost every animated show. Scavengers Reign was dead on arrival regardless of how well it did tbh. I'm surprised he even allowed it to air, might have been a contractual obligation that just cost to much to make go away. Tons of Cartoon Network (owned by Warner) shows have been just removed from streaming because he doesn't want to pay the people who made them any money. I've seen many show creators talk about this on social media. There's a lot of people I've seen not even want to pitch to HBO/Warner bc they dont' think even if it gets made it will be around for very long if at all

How miserable being one of the heavily-invested creators behind one of these properties and getting canceled after a single season that is getting great reviews from viewers. Scavenger's Reign has 100%/95% on RT. It has be soul-draining. We want to see more of the story, not a single season left with a dozen unresolved story threads. /rant

I finally got hold of the original theatrical version of Blood Simple - before the Coens ‘revised’ it and altered many many scenes/bits of dialogue and with the original music cues (Four Tops instead of The Monkees…) This is from a vhs copy in open matte/full screen. All subsequent releases on dvd going forward are the ‘Directors’ Cut’ version which has always driven me crazy cuz there are so many little indelible moments I distinctly remember from my first viewings (video store rental/purchased big box Palace Video release) which the bros. in their wisdom removed or altered.

Here’s a link to it anyway in case anyone else wants it!

And while I’m here… Earserhead full frame/open matte with original mono sound mix from laserdisc - don’t know if you’re aware but subsequent releases would crop it to WS aspect and with remixed stereo soundtrack! So if you want the original theatrical experience or as near as…

This was an interesting one for sure. Lost me by the halfway point but still, an intriguing mix of things I like on paper!

This was very interesting indeed. Need to digest some more.
I am wondering how different generations feel about this movie. I am from 1980. So if my math is correct I am the around the same age of the main characters. And I have a lot of memories of melancholy…
Can’t find the right words at the moment. Anyways, I really liked it. But can definitely understand this not being for everyone.

I really enjoyed I Saw the TV Glow, it's one I can absolutely understand why people don't vibe with it though. I wanted more of the weird TV show shit but that's really my only issue with it.

@bez how was In A Violent Nature? The trailer definitely piqued my interest

I really liked In a Violent Nature. I found it to be a very nice spin on Friday the 13th and other classic slasher movies. It is not a masterpiece of course but an enjoyable watch.

Had a very long day and drove around The Netherlands for 6 hours (with some stops) and was in need for something simple.
Well this was simple and sort of fun. Not great. But did the job.
