Talk to Me dir by Danny Philippou & Michael Philippou
I hate to contribute to the hype but I think this is the best film I've seen this year. Pretty much perfect, it hooked me immediately, characters all work, writing is excellent, effects are awesome, scares work and the dread is real. Watch this, I don't want to say much about it as I think every one should just see it with minimal context.

No One Will Save You dir by Brian Duffield
I hadn't heard of this until Friday when I buddy told me I should check it out on Hulu. It's a really fun and pretty clever alien invasion film (clearly from the poster). Makes grey men creepy again lol. It's not perfect, there are a few minor issues I had through out, the character picking up important items and staring at them for 3 seconds before pocketing it was a little heavy handed but it felt like a studio note more than anything. The ending did not work at all for me but 3 minutes out of a brisk 90 isn't that big of a deal. I really liked that there was basically no dialog in it's entire run time. I was told I should check out the director's previous film, Spontaneous, I may do that this week as I was impressed by this.

V/H/S
It's been a long time since I have watched this one, it's definitely very rough around the edges, there's some things to be said about how much it hates it's female characters but it's 12-13 years old made by a bunch of up and coming 20 something directors who pretty much all of are now pretty big names in the industry varying from indie favorite to big Godzilla vs Kong director. I really enjoy the final segment with the haunted house, it's the strongest.

V/H/S 2
This is still the series best entry. Carried entirely by Gareth & Timo's segment Safe Haven which is just incredible. But the rest of the segments are still quite enjoyable, A Ride In The Park is the perfect concept for a short and executed really well. Biker with a go pro becomes zombie while on ride in park, it's so simple and effective. Clinical Trials is a fun take on a concept we've seen plenty over the years, the alien invasion one at the end is really fun except when they kill the dog that part sucks. It's rare that I enjoy all segments of an anthology film so that may be why I like this one so much.
