Fire and Ice dir by Ralph Bakshi

It's been a while since I've last watched this and it's still a lot of fun. Love the music, so many cool scenes, many awkward rotoscoped shots that just add to the charm.
I also enjoy a revisit of Fire & Ice. Frazetta forever. I like your comment about the awkward rotoscoped shots which I agree give the Bakshi films a lot of realistic charm. I have seen more than a few memes lately about the Aragorn-tripping-over-his-own-sword shot from Bakshi's LotR which always struck me as a young lad as being so realistic. It is amusing to think about now just being an error shot they kept in due to being low budget.

Reminds me, I still need to watch The Spine of Night.

I have meaning to rewatch Miami Vice for a while. The show as well as the movie. The show also had long shots of driving at night without any action but creating a lot of atmosphere. I have no recollection about the movie though :-)

Only Bakshi movie I ever saw was Fritz the Kat and I didn’t know he directed it. I should give those old animations a go.

Thanks @inskb for sharing all of that. Always interesting to read!

Going to watch this one tonight in honor of one of the greatest directors of all time. His filmography is just stacked with classic after classic. Such an amazing run in the 70s + 80s RIP

Thanks for bringing up The Spine of Night, while we were watching F&I I said to my wife there was a modern rotoscoped film we were supposed to watch but I couldn't remember the title to. Going to add that to the list this week

I rewatched The Guardian yesterday. Maybe he knew, and it was too painful.

Kidding aside, a stone cold legend and one unique individual. I’m 3/4 way through The Friedkin Connection audio book, will finish it tonight.

@Inksb recommended this over a year ago and I finally got around watching it. Really loved it! Very original and well made.

What a movie...
I am not sure what to make of it. But when the credits rolled I had a big smile on my face.

Saw it multiple times in theatre back when I was projectionist, just an absolute smack in the face of a film - but yep, super funny too!

Killer Joe is on the docket for this week. I planned on starting it last night but ended up taking too long editing a little video in Resolve which I have started to mess around with lately. On top of being out of the editing game for close to a decade, everything is in different spots than FCP and there's tons of features I'm completely unfamiliar with.

Wasn't feeling this one... Sometimes it felt like it was a made for TV movie. It was not bad, but simply didn't grab me. 3/5 stars I gave it.

First time watch. I really liked. Especially Walken. But that ending felt so abrupt.

The end credits song ‘Strokin’ is hilarious, really cracked me up the first time I saw the movie and then I look forward to it on every rewatch. Then I came across this!

Killer Joe dir by Friedkin

I haven't seen this since it hit theaters originally. I enjoyed it then and it's still just as good. The final act is so fucking nuts, McConaughey & Gershin's performance are just fantastic. It took me about a half an hour to realize who the actress playing Dottie was, she's Keely in Ted Lasso. Glad I revisited this one, it's been too long. RIP

Cobweb

Lionsgate just dumped this film for no reason, it got the least promoted theatrical run I've seen in ages. Actually had no idea it was in theaters because it didn't hit any near me. Then a few weeks later they dumped it on VOD for a $6 rental, again not actually telling anyone that it was hitting VOD. I thought it was pretty good and would have done pretty decent if they released it around October. It's creepy, has an interesting setup and really great performance from Lizzy Caplan. Also the guy who plays Homelander in The Boys plays the father and he's playing a different kind of asshole in this film. The film isn't perfect and if you don't watch it in a dark room it's tough to see anything due to how dark a lot of it is but I think it's worth your time. Although I don't think @bez liked this one much if his letterbox is an indicator

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

The Mrs. requested this one saturday evening. She's almost all caught up on the series. We just need to watch 1 and 3 at this point then she'll be ready Dead Reckoning. Still great not much else to say.

I watched Cobweb after two Friedkin movies and I was a bit tired. At that point it simply didn’t grab me as I hoped. And I cannot remember how it all unfolded. I only remember not caring that much when it finished.
