Probably my actual favorite movie of all time. I’ve got others I say sometimes and there are films I’ve been more “obsessed” with but there may be no movie I’ve watched more in my life than last crusade. Objectively raiders is the superior film, but by like a razor edge and this is my personal fav of the franchise, the chemistry between Connery and ford, the multiple locations, the return of Nazi antagonists, everything about it.
Not to mention the perfectly pitched, cast and realised opening scenes with young Indy - so beautifully done it makes you giddy and continues to show just how piss poorly the same kind of concept has been done in other films since (looking at you, Solo!)

Asteroid City

This was much more enjoyable than The French Dispatch. It's typical Wes Anderson in the way that every film of his since Grand Budapest has been "typical Wes Anderson" so that can be fine for you or a huge annoyance. Cast was excellent, I liked the variety of new actors mixed in this time. Lot's of younger faces. Beautiful miniature work in this one too. The road runner was one of my favorite parts "meep meep". Just a warning, do not purchase or rent the digital version from Amazon, it's severely desaturated, it makes me think something with the HDR/DV is fucked up. I had to download it elsewhere. Which is annoying bc my wife bought it for us on there, I hope they fix it.

Mission Impossible Fallout

Revisit for a refresher before I go see the new one. Still fucking great. The fight scene in the bathroom is so damn good. The car chase scene is ridiculous and that helicopter scene is pure insanity. I can't wait to watch the new one.

Mission Impossible II

So this has always been my least favorite which hurts to say bc I love John Woo. I watched this in 2000 when it came out and had zero interest in revisiting since. It's not as bad as I remember, a lot of the action scenes are really well put together and contain moments of that "John Woo style" but man does it drag in parts with the most mundane shit. It's still the weakest film in the franchise but I'm glad I revisited it, my hatred for it was kind of unwarranted, it's a fine action film from '00.

Still need to watch Asteroid City. And I needed to check the trailer if I had watched Fallout. I did :-)
Really looking forward to check out the new one.

After an Imax screening of Dead Reckoning last week, turned to my friend and simply said "Five Stars. No notes." We went for food after and it was so strange - usually we will really chop up a movie and spend time on the hits and misses. We barely even talked about the film, it was just understood that it had 100% delivered.

I continue to be in awe of this franchise and how consistently it still delivers, what an awesome time in the theaters for this. And where did Esai Morales come from after all this time with such a sinister performance. Man I just loved it so much, agreed…no notes.

Now I'm even more excited to see it. Wish the IMAX wasn't 95 minutes away, not worth the drive for me

Absolutely, though it almost feels unfair to single him out- Shea, Pom, Ms Atwell (and many other surprise new turns) along with the core team, all completely understanding the assignment. I had so many laugh-out-loud moments, not only from intended gag payoffs but just through sheer delight at some of the character beats the actors deliver and brazen chutzpah that McQ brings to this one.

This was the second time I watched this one. First time was in the cinema when it came out... I did not care for it back then.
I still did not really care for it most of the time. The CGI didn't age well. And it felt way to cartoony (if that is a word).

Very curious however, to see the latest installment.

That jump scare with the car got me really good. But yeah over all that one had a lot of effective jump scares in it.

The suitcase one in the fourth one got me first time around as well, yelped like a cat

Very interesting this one... Far from great but still very enjoyable.
Starring Harvey Keitel, Johnny Rotten and Leonard Mann

Italian produced. Directed by Roberto Faenza and with a fantastic score by Ennio Morricone.

Copkiller a.k.a.

Infernal Affairs dir by Andrew Lau & Alan Mak

This has long been on my watch list, found a 4k version and decided to give it a go. Excellent film, it's 101 mins long and cut at a break neck speed. It's constantly moving forward and not wasting any time which I greatly appreciated. For those that don't know, this is the film that The Departed is a remake of. I think The Departed made itself a little more convoluted than the original here and definitely changed some things (like making the psychologist more of a prominent roll). This had a great cast with Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Eric Tsang and Anthony Wong as the 4 main characters. This one is highly recommended if you haven't seen it.

Rapid Fire dir by Dwight H. Little

Another film that's been on my watchlist for years. I rewatched Showdown in Little Tokyo last week and realized I needed to watch this one. Brandon Lee was going to be such a huge star, The Crow was going to skyrocket him but this film is where he shows off his action skills and man he was full of charisma. 28 is far too young to die. Powers Booth is chewing the scenery here, he's turned up to 229% here and it's kind of hilarious, it's like he's in a different movie. It's non stop action from beginning to end. A real gem of early 90's action.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
dir by Brad Bird

I've some how hooked my wife on MI films so now we're watching a bunch of them. It's been years since I last saw this, I basically remembered the hallway/screen scene and the glass building in Dubai. The rest was very fuzzy. It's a fantastic film and a real shame that Brad Bird only directed live action with this and Tomorrowland (which I assume tanked his prospects at more live action?). Now I'm gonna try to get her to watch part 3 and Rogue Nation. She wants to see the new one on the big screen which was surprising to hear her say as she hasn't wanted to go to the theaters in ages.

@Inksb

I loved Infernal Affairs. Watch part 2 as well! And maybe 3. I rewatched 1 and 2 not too long ago almost back to back. But as you say, there is so much going on I was tired after the second one. Still need to rewatch 3 (or maybe I have never seen that one at all).

@Tim
I was planning on watching Jaws 1, 2 and 3 soon. Didn't know it was shark week! I know what I'll be watching later on this week! And there finally is a Jaws 2 UHD!

Well since you're deep in the Indiana Jones groove right now, you can check out this Cannon Films knock-off for chuckles. If you thought those films were racist... you aint seen nothing yet!

Thanks @Tim for the nudge!

It has been 20 years since I had last seen this one I think. Brilliant movie. Watched it in 4K and with Dolby Atmos. Looked and sounded perfect.
Tomorrow probably Jaws 2 and hopefully I have the time to sneak in part 3 (non 3D)

I don't think I've ever watched Jaws 3 or 4. I'm sure I've seen parts of them on TV back when they used to play on there a lot but I can't remember if I ever sat down to watch the entire thing.
