For the most part I’ve enjoyed everything I watched. Some more than others. I felt the seventh sign didn’t really feel like a horror movie so I had a little double feature. I’m sure this has been discussed but Halloween Kills does not work as a Halloween movie and would of made a better instalment in the Friday the 13th franchise. By far the best part to me was the Coupe de Villes nod. The movie I liked the least was Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker, man does that movie not age well or what. The blatant bigotry was a bit much for me, it’s not great. I’m planning on going to the theatre tomorrow with my wife to go see Last night in soho so that should be fun.

That’s a terrific and very varied list CP, love it. Has reminded me about existence of that Reanimator Integral, must seek that out toots sweet.
And yeah, you’re so right about BBNM…. oof. Did you spot that the grimy synth score is by none other than Bruce (Hired Hand) Langhorne?? Again, oof.

I must of missed the fact that Bruce Langhorne did the score to BBNM. Seems like an odd choice….although some of my favourite slasher scores have that country/folkie sound based on the I assume popular music at the time ie. My Bloody Valentine and Madman.

I decided to keep this train a rolling I just watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers and I’m ending my night with another slasher favourite of mine Hell Night. Triple feature haha, who needs sleep anyways?

That is a list alright. 1/3 of them I didn't even know about. There is a Slumber Party Massacre from 2021? Never heard of Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker... Hell Night I have never seen.
I was thinking of revisiting Body Snatcher for my 1993 watch list but decided against it. Thank you Leprechaun...

I’ve been enjoying your list as well @bez :). You’ve been watching some movies I still have to check out myself, Cronos being one of them. I also have never watched Body Snatcher I really should though, sometimes those remakes can be a lot of fun. I really like the Blob and Night of the living dead from the 90s. Also it didn’t seem like you liked Two Evil Eyes? I thought I’d was pretty good, I liked both stories and the score is something I am going to track down for sure.

If you want my opinion I would watch In the Mouth of Madness again….and again. For sure one of my favourites and one that never gets old. I’m still hoping the score will finally be released on Vinyl. I worry though we might get a rescore first.

It was a different Sam Neil movie that always freaked me out when I was younger and especially the first time I watched. Event Horizon sure hope that one makes your list. It’s a good one.

CP - Abel Ferrara's Body Snatchers is fully endorsed by me. I'm a big fan. GREAT score by Joe Delia and it looks fabulous in 'Scope. The only downside for me (to maybe warn you slightly in advance) is a bland young square jawed lead (who I insisted on calling Spunkenheimer throughout on first watch...) and the ending maybe feels a bit like they ran out of money. But Meg Tilly is straight fire, definitely my favourite performance of hers after Psycho II and Big Chill.

Also a couple things I noticed Vampires was just watched has anyone ever read the novel? Any good?

One movie that has stuck with me is Nightmare or Nightmares in a damaged brain. I really enjoyed it for what it is, has anyone seen it? The ending is a little confusing to me though. I don’t want to give anything away but can someone explain to me why the boy smiles at the end?

Vampires (the movie) is... problematic. But definitely has some fun elements to it. Valek is a great head vampire! Haven't read the novel.

Nightmares in a Damaged Brain is one scuzzy movie! And I do respect (?) it for that. But yeesh.... what a grubby experience all round. Don't drive yourself insane trying to figure out the 'logic' of the ending Pete! ;-)

I watched Halloween 2018 again last night. I hadn't seen it since it's theatrical run & I wanted to refresh my memory of what led to some of the scenes in the new one. With Kills fresh on the mind, I noticed some characters that had very minor appearances in H18 but had prominent roles in HK. ScoJo, you actually mention them during the last podcast ;)

Pete Hell Night is also a personal favorite of mine....great atmosphere and cinematography and nice moody score. Definitely check that out.

Nightmare in a damaged brain has one of the
most violent endings ever put to film When I saw it as a kid there was a shot towards the end of the film when the kid gets the axe from the wood shed that looked really familiar to me...like right down the hill from where I grew up. Was not sure if they had filmed on staten island at all, but I was sure I knew that location. Cut to twenty years later when code red was finally preparing there dvd release of Nightmare in a damaged brain I had been talking a little back in forth to the main actor Baird Stafford who plays the killer. He had mentioned that in a few days he would be doing a commentary for the film. Anyways a few years later after the dvd came out I was laying in bed and listening to the commentary for Nightmare and at one point Baird say "Yes Evan this was filmed on staten island". Freaked me out a little because I totally forgot about asking him about that. So it was kind of a weird moment hearing that especially since that film made an impact on me similar to how you said.

Hey Evan what a crazy little story. I love it, I can only imagine what that would be like, thanks for sharing. The closest thing I can relate is one time I sent a picture of a pumpkin I carved into MAD magazine and they published my photo and put my name in the magazine. It’s still one of my greatest achievements lol.

I’m with you on Hell Night. Last night certainly wasn’t the first time I watched it, I was so happy when they released the Scream Factory bluray a few years back.

Hearing that score on a theater sound system is something else.

Sadly I couldn’t make it out to the theatre today so last night in soho will have to wait. I did however watch triple feature yet again. I first watched Curse of Frankenstein followed by Candyman and ended my night with Bay of Blood. Curse was a first time watch for my and I quite enjoyed it. It really reminded me of Re-Animator, it must of been a major influence on Stuart Gordon.

Thanks for pointing out Dark Waters. I had it on my list for 1993 (was released in Russia in December 1993 according to iMDB) but put it on the back of the list. And I forgot Jason Goes to Hell...

So before I commence 1994 I will watch those 2 from 1993 first.

For 1994 I already planned to watch New Nightmare. And I contemplated Wolf but decided against it. But I am going to start another session of only werewolf and/or vampire type movies next year.

it also had a reference to Myers, The Thing and of course Freddy... I probably missed some other stuff. Truly insane movie.
