I took a jazz appreciation class in college where I heard this for the first time. This and A Love Supreme were my intros. Freddy Freeloader is my jam. I don’t own it on wax. Time to change that.

Glad I snagged a couple of these miles mofi back in the day. Should have copped the others too but at least I've got this one, sorcerer and bitches brew.

Yeah, I often feel the same - until I have another favorite MD, it‘s funny how this changes (and sometimes changes back again).

@Texas: Some of the MD Mofis will be repressed soon, they are listed as ‚awaiting repress‘ on their site. I asked the distributor in Germany and they told me they will be available in August in Germany so they should be available in the US even before that. That said you never know with the current capacity constraints of pressing plants, there could be delays but I would not pay a price premium e.g. for Miles in the Sky or E.S.P.

The Lee Morgan and Art Blakey you spun recently are awesome, I especially want the Morgan on MMJ (SRX or non-SRX), love that album.

Now spinning one of my favorite Coltrane albums. Perfect blend of slightly progressive and great vibes, with a bigger band than on most of his classic records.

Went to recycled denton today, it's very near UNT which has a huge jazz program, and the owner knows good records. They have a nice size jazz section but 90+% is reissues. I did find this '61 deep groove mono reissue of this one from the mid 50s with clifford brown and Sonny Rollins on the horns and priced decently. Some nice hard bop on here, I didn't know the record. Favorite track is The Scene is Clean.

Snagged this and a few other tone poets today as well. decent record, good, maybe not great. Can't put my finger on why but it doesn't hit for me as much as true blue

Oh, Introducing Kenny Burrell is fantastic. I like The Waiting Game just fine, but True Blue is a Blue Note Classic, whether it gets labeled as such or not, for a reason.

They had this one used for 15. Musically it is way outside of the box without losing structure.

This one is a killer - live in NYC '56. Sonny had replaced saxophonist Harold Land, and his Sonny Rollins Plus 4 a couple months later (with this same band) was Brownie and pianist Richie Powell's final recording. They were killed in a car crash a few months later. HISTORIC!

Yeah, True Blue is in another league - as Mateo also stated that one is top shelf Blue Note. I’m waiting for a somewhat good deal on a Music Matters version of True Blue, it’s just such a great album. Another Tina Brooks I‘ve started to enjoy quite a bit is Back to the Tracks, probably it in total just flows better than The Waiting Game.

What I in any case like about the Tone Poet releases is that they shed a light on the a bit lesser known output of these Jazz masters - and the packaging and sound quality is close to or equal to the Music Matters releases but they are less costly.

One of my local record stores dropped a ton on Jazz records yesterday. So many that I couldn’t get all that I wanted. Also I had to wait til after work to go so a bunch of the albums I wanted we’re already gone. Still happy with what I found though. I picked up 6 or so but honestly if I was able to go earlier not sure how many of these would of been my first picks. Some of the records I missed out on include Hub-Tones, Ethiopian Knights, Midnight Blue and The Blues and the Abstract Truth. Maybe one day I’ll find them. He also had a 1st US edition of Blues Spirits but it was $175 and I wasn’t sure if that was a good price or not besides I spent all my money anyways.

I’m starting my day with this Echos Of Blue by Freddie Hubbard. Originaly I was going to pass on it but I noticed Benny Maupin is on this album so I decided to pick it up.
