I’m not sure if it’s a one-off; he seemed to think it was odd that I didn’t have one, but I have yet to see this bonus insert anywhere on discogs or anywhere else. I’ll try to get some pics of the credits insert.

Also, another interesting thing is that the music box cue is a recording he actually made of the screen-used music box, if I recall (after which it promptly broke). I want to say it’s still owned by one of the cast members.

I do think WW also altered his master some. While some of his transfers were from vinyl and some were from tapes, there’s a fair amount of noise reduction that is partially WW’s doing and I don’t think it sounds great at all.

At the very least, now that I own a heavy percentage of the Hi-Q records in question, I know what they sound like straight off the records and the fidelity is miles away from what’s on the Waxwork version. The original albums sound as beautiful and lush and hi-fi as you would expect Capitol releases from the 50s would sound (there are a few tracks that are a little thin but they’re the exception).

The VS release can be a little harsh but I still prefer it to the WW.

I seem to remember, and this could be 100% not accurate, that the insert WAS mentioned in the initial PR or something and then when it wasn’t there a few people asked and it sort of just didn’t get discussed. I like my WW one but the VS is just a magical record, much like creepshow, there’s something about it that’s just perfect.

Any of you the one who got that silver bullet that was sitting on eBay for like $40 for a month? I tried to BIN it a bunch and even made some offers but there was constantly an “error” and the seller couldn’t accept payment. and then a day or so ago I got a notice that it had sold for a dollar over the BIN. It was very very weird, but I’ll feel a hell of a lot better about it if I knew one you got it haha

The 2CD is still missing a few cues. I can’t remember which ones, but I know one of them is the cue in the gun shop - that was actually made by combining 3 cues from a Major Records sound effects LP together, and looping them.

I think one of the cues when Roger is moving the trucks is missing too - part of the problem was, they were running out of room on the discs and some of these tracks were 4-5 minutes long and Romero only used like the last 10 seconds of the track.
I think there might be 2-3 songs not included for this reason. The old timey music when Roger is playing that driving game in the arcade is also not on there.

Ugh, I’ve been thinking about separating the vs, but my organization is getting weird as it is, I have carpenter, lynch and lynch related, goblin, morricone, tangerine dream et al, separated out already from my other soundtracks, plus all the resissue labels in their own section by spine (unless their release goes in one of the afore mentioned sections) then certain other labels and genres cordoned off in such a manner that Baxter has releases in the exotica section on one side and the regular soundtrack section (by composer) on another. Before I even get into rock/pop/goth/punk etc. a while record box full of spoken word vintage and a whole shelf of cadabra away from everything else...so yeah right now the VS lives with whatever other section it may belong to but we’ll see. If I ever move and have a different shelving situation this will all be rethought and will either be simplified or even further complicated

@hatter I really love hearing about the weirdness of your organization!

Back when I did CDs, I was very adamant about straight-up alphabetizing, but my vinyl collection (only 5 years strong!) is “organized” way more like yours. It’s all associative, for lack of a better term.

I have libraries separated by country, then giallo, Italian crime, Italian erotic, Morricone.
Some composers have their own sections even if some of their records span multiple genres (Nicolai, Cipriani, Alessandroni, Piccioni). Basically if I have more than one record by a composer, then he/she gets their own little category. (Like you, I’ve split Baxter between exotica and soundtracks.)

Then I have 70s/80s horror which is kinda separated into Romero/Romero related, Carpenter, Raimi, Cronenberg, then general 70s/80s horror (most of the VS stuff is here). There’s also a section for “classic horror/sci fi” but it’s on another wall.
(Yeah, Goblin’s Dawn of the Dead is in with Romero instead of with the rest of the Goblin. I can’t abide having Dawn not be between Night and Day!)

My “bands” section is even more incomprehensible. Artists are categorized by “scene” kinda - like all of the Boston/MA bands get their own section (dinosaur jr, lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield, etc), then there’s SST bands, Canadian, PNW, UK bands, etc etc.

It’s purely associative for me - I just think about “who would I have lumped these bands in with? Which bands led me to other bands?”

It’s kind of insane but I’m getting a kick out of how weirdly personal it is to me. So I love hearing about other folks’ weird organization systems.

Ha, you're all weird like me, love it.

I have my rock/pop/bluegrass/country all alphabetized by band.

Then I have video game soundtracks alphabetized except for Data Discs they are in catalog order.

Hip-Hop is separate and alphabetized.

Japanese music has it's own section, ambient/city pop/jazz/rock alphabetized then I have my soundtrack and soundtrack related section, no real organization because half of it doesn't have English titles on the cover or spine.

Soundtracks are all in one area for the most part, except I have Morricone & Nicolai in their own area separated.

Electronic music has it's own section.

Tiger Lab Vinyl is at the end of the soundtrack section but by itself in catalog order.

Library music has it's own section with Alessandroni getting his own subdivision in there.

And finally I have one cube that is my "new arrivals" directly below my turntable, this is split in half with hip hop on one side and soundtrack or adjacent stuff on the other.

Associative is the best way to put it, thats how i have my books. they are grouped by association and some vague thematic criteria that only makes sense in my head, but i generally know where everything is and how its organized. the books, my first collecting love, are also throughout the apartment as opposed to the vinyl which occupies only one room.

Movies are organized in drawers alpha by title and is the only place where things actually make sense to anyone but me :D
