Yep, fantastic series... so subtle and very human, there’s a podcast too that goes into the background of making the show

6 part police procedural dramatising real life case of a murdered female journalist, killed whilst doing story on a crazy Danish guy who built his own submarine. It's a truly shocking and nuts story, thanks to the Danish justice system which is very heavily weighted towards the accused/demanding rock solid evidence of foul play.

What makes it personal for me is that, bizarrely, about a month before the murder a friend of mine visited the sub guy herself and he took her out on the water! I have a photo of her stood on the deck waving with him next to her, it's completely nuts.

And a documentary about the convicted klller by a woman who was filming him right until the day of 'the incident' which sounds fascinating, but sadly Netflix pulled it from their schedule due to some of the volunteer employees of the guy complaining that they didn't give permission to be shown.

It was meant to go straight to Netflix but as I say there were rights problems. I guess unless they can solve the issues which the contributors have, it may never come out.

I've heard some intriguing things about this one- Disney's first 18 cert film, shot in 2018, dumped from release during pandemic and now on VOD. The marketing, such as it is, really sucks - avoid the trailer I hear, and the poster is appalling.
It's a horror-crime-thriller hybrid, score is by Chris Young. I will report back with thoughts.

Yes, I saw that one pop up but thought it might not be too interesting.

Beautifully made, very good performances, interesting things for sure - but I might have to give it a second watch (which I feel happy enough to do) before I can properly comment on the story. Think I missed a few things. I can say that once again Chris Young (with Lustmord in tow) has provided another fantastic horror score. This is definitely an odd hybrid of sorts, and I wasn't a million miles away at all in saying that it was giving me The Endless vibes.

I agree with everything you said. And it doesn't feel the 137 minutes that it is. But I'd rather give Tenet a second watch in stead of this one :-)

These older horror movies don't impress him much. His only real comment was, "these people aren't very smart". He also brought up that the boy they rescued on the river just disappears. After the scene of the piranha attacking the river raft and they make it back to land he's never seen again. I had to remind him of the type of movie it is. :)

Well I think I've talked a little about my relationship with Romero's zombie films in the past on here. I love Night, enjoy Dawn and struggle with Day but have warmed up to Day over the years. I've never loved Dawn as much as others for some reason. In fact I haven't even watched it since the late 90's back when I borrowed a friends VHS of it. It's time to admit my faults. I just received the 4K UHD yesterday and decided to give it a fair chance again. Holy hell it's an incredible film, I don't know what my problem was when I watched it years ago, it's damn near perfect. I'll blame it on being young and dumb. Aside from that this 4K restoration is a thing of absolute beauty, I went into this expecting it to just look good but it looks substantially more than that. I'm really happy that I picked this up.




Beverly Hills Cop. Martin Brest
I couldn't sleep Saturday night so I was scrolling through to find something to watch and decided to watch this. Still funny as hell and that soundtrack is so good. Needless to say I didn't sleep for another hour and halfish, just watched the whole thing.



Jujitsu Kaisen.
This was a complete surprise to me, a friend recommended it. I'm usually not into the "new and popular" shonen style shows, although I do like a lot of older ones. This is hands down the best animated series I've seen in a while from an action standpoint. I have another show I'll be talking about in a week or so when I finish that is incredibly animated as well. So many really fun characters, an interesting if basic story. Todo and Itadori's budding friendship puts the biggest smile on my face. This was great fun that I recommend to any one who wants to watch a new anime show.




Invincible.
I watched the first 3 episodes which were put up on Amazon this weekend. For those that are not familiar with Invincible it's a long running comic by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman about a teenager who gets his super powers, his father is the strongest super hero on the planet and the growing pains of becoming an actual superhero. I'll leave it pretty basic as I don't want to ruin any of the surprises. I read the first 40ish issues years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. The show itself is pretty basically animated, looks like the DC animated movies as of late, simple linework with flat color colors, not a lot of detail and really bad CG. But it gets the job done. I'm enjoying what they have done so far and look forward to the remaining episodes. It's also the first animated series that I can think of that plays in the hour long format, episodes tend to be 45-55 minutes.



The Leftovers.
I finally am getting around to this show. I wasn't sold on the first few episodes but it kept bringing me back in due to my curiosity of what the fuck they were gonna do with the premise. I have one episode left of season 1 and I plan on continuing. It's an interesting show so far. What are the thoughts on this one? Any one here watch it? I've heard that some people love the last season while others think it's a giant pile of shit.

I;m 100% with you on Dawn, it took me time to really fall in love with it and i couldn't figure out why it wasn't doing it for me the way it does for others.

i also watched Beverly Hills Cop the other day for the first time in years, still a perfect comedy, still hysterical, still a banger of a main theme.

I've never loved Dawn as much as others for some reason. In fact I haven't even watched it since the late 90's back when I borrowed a friends VHS of it. It's time to admit my faults. I just received the 4K UHD yesterday and decided to give it a fair chance again. Holy hell it's an incredible film, I don't know what my problem was when I watched it years ago, it's damn near perfect.

And not even a mention nor any love thrown towards Land? For shame sir. I understand fans who want to pretend Survival (which I actually quite like) and Diary (ugh) don't exist, but c'mon now. Land deserves a place in any 'Dead' series convo for my money :)

You are going to be confronted with some pretty ripe 'Oirish acting/accents in Survival, but tbh it's no worse than the ott Carribean stuff in Day ;) And there genuinely are cool aspects to it, and some solid Z-action scenes. The biggest thing is that it's another huge bummer, though you should be used to that by now!!

I actually really liked Land when I saw it in the theaters but I haven't watched it since. I've been meaning to revisit it. I have not watched Diary or Survival though. They didn't really interest me.

btw I LOVED The Leftovers, event television for me when it aired. Loved it soup to nuts. There's a deep convo to be had but I wouldn't dare step on spoilers for anyone who has yet to watch it. My advice is keep going! I was knocked out by where the series goes, and the finale was incredible.
