This is so so so good. I only got around to checking this out yesterday and then found out the 180 is already sold out everywhere.

Feels like everything is selling out instantly these days.
Pharoah once stood on my foot walking through the crowd, while I was sat building a joint. Then he shut down a room full of noisy Camden Jazz Wankers (CJWs) with a tibetan bowl, and later we witnessed that mythical thing where he plays so ferociously that he then takes the sax from his lips.. and carries on playing. All true.

This record sounds incredible.

Turns out, having a more than favorable write-up in the NYT can be a bit of a boon to album sales. That said, the 180g version isn't sold out everywhere yet and can still be had from the label directly as of yesterday.

How's the pressing and mastering, Red?

It's really nice. I didn't notice a crackle or a pop throughout both sides. And it captures the quiet and louder parts well. Folks with more sensitive ears may have have more discrimination, but to me it sounded sumptuous.

Might put this on the want list. It is the same record as Mobley's Message. mono RVG press and one of the wavy runout grooves. Awesome record with Art Taylor and Doug Watkins on drums and bass.

Johnny Hartman us a criminally undervalued jazz vocalist and this record contains an amazing jazzy, exotic version of Mancini's A Slow Hot Wind. I believe it is the first time that song was ever performed with vocals.

Will have to check that out. Never seen a copy of it. I don't normally listen to a lot of jazz vocal. Funny enough I am listening to one as I type this. I thought these silver volumes fell victim to the purge but I kept em around, at least vol 1 and 3. Glad I did, I enjoy these more now than I did when I got them maybe ten years back. Some tracks with Andy Bey vocals.

Hartman is a very 50's / 60's style of vocals. A bit of Sinatra and early Scott Walker, but very much his own thing. He was featured heavily of Bridges Of Madison County, not that I'd recommend watch the film.

Horace Silver is a star. I don't know that series.

It's electric but there are some real nightcap vibe on here, soul jazz with a political bent. 1970. I like the slower tracks especially

Haha good eye it’s the 2014 Music Matters release. I’ve had my eye on this for a while, It showed up at one of my local record stores a month or to ago. I didn’t want to pay what they wanted so I waited. I had a little extra cash so I decided to make an offer and they accepted. Considering what it sells for I’m happy with what I paid for it
