Unrelated, but I only got round to streaming Lost Themes III for the first time today. I was going to wait until I picked up the vinyl, but decided to have a preview. I really like what I hear, another progression from LTII.

Joe Hisaishi - Porco Rosso Soundtrack

I haven't seen Porco Rosso in years, I love the film but couldn't remember much about the score. All I know is Joe Hisaishi is a fantastic composer and @dollar recently picked it up (actually I think it may have been last fall) who sang it's praise. I found it at a great price and had a coupon so I ended up paying much less than normal Ghibli reissue pricing. It's a beautiful soundtrack. I plan to pick up more of these Ghibli releases against the wishes of my bank account. I have Mononoke Image album on the way and I think I'll be grabbing Laputa after that.

I feel like I got to give it more love because like you said it is such a great score. Anyone have any tips for removing old stickers without damaging the sleeve?

Carefully dab with warm water on a sponge, not too much. Take your time, get the sticker nice n damp/warm, then once its completely soaked through give it a few mins and gently start rubbing from one corner. If you're lucky, you may get a big piece off in one slow attempt but its more likely youll need to do in pieces, rubbing off a bit at a time with ball of your thumb. You can keep dabbing it with sponge occasionally to keep it damp/warm the glue, and just keep on going - it may take a while but touch wood you'll get the sticker off without trashing the sleeve laminate if youre careful. There will likely be a dull patch once its gone but nothing too horrific (and better than a big, ugly sticker ;)

thanks @scojo I have a couple albums with stickers so I might try on a different LP first, see how it goes but honestly I might take you up on that offer cheers.

Update I successfully took off the main stickers. But much like Icarus I flew too close to the sun. I messed up a little on the blue tape (top corner). Might just leave the green tape

Nice work! Ahh yes I didnt actually spot the coloured stickers wrapped around spine sorry... those are much trickier since they wrap around a crease point, they are never going to come off without a bit of spinal damage, as it were. You could always use black sharpie to colour them black (and the slightly damaged seam?) Youd be amazed the wonders a sharpie can do on splits/feathering/small creases and sticker damaged spots on a black sleeve :)

Here's a little 'deep intel' for you on marker deployment Pete. And we have to tread reaaaal careful here, as this is serious inside baseball/heavy voodoo, the kinda thing that can get you ostracized from certain gentlemen's clubs for saying too loudly/around the uninitiated/the help.

For most uses of The Sharpie (subtle stuff like cracked spines, edge and cover creases, fill...) it is best to use the following technique: a quick dab of the sharpie onto the affected area, then VERY QUICKLY and GENTLY rub the ink in, maybe even using a thumb with a little moisture on the pad. This blends the ink and stops it from being a glaringly different hue and texture from the area it is applied to. Now, clearly Im only talking about black areas here, but even within that there are many nuances (sleeve texture/coating mostly). I will say though (voice drops to a barely discernable whisper....)


I've even carried out repairs on coloured sleeves/areas.



There are many many more things in Heaven and Vinyl Repair than are dreamt of in most Johnny Soundtrack Collector's philosophies.
