@Static: That Revenge of the Ninja!

@ScoJo: the Dagored is going for more than the OG? pffff Thankfully I have both :-)
But someone can ask that much for the Dagored I do not see anyone paying that amount...

@Evan/ScoJo: really cool sculpting action info!

@Tim: excellent Goldsmith action!

To echo others, seriously thank you, Evan, for sharing your stories with us here. It is always awesome to hear your stories and it’s a unique and special view into a world so many of us have admired for years. The coolness of getting your personal perspective of a guy right there on the ground for some of our collectively favorite movies can not be understated.

Also holy hell that’s a lot of busts, but what an effect. Like a lot of us, I miss the handcrafted quality of that golden age of genre films. Give me some solid stop motion, matte paintings, and a moody cloud tank effect over digital any way. I’m in no way disparaging the work that goes into modern effects work, but I miss the tactile artistry

Anyway, cheers

(reaches towards the Moroder section...)
And like that, a new genre was born

Taking a short break from StacheSynth, this is unbelievably beautiful - and somehow while I was having a Lynch session recently I realised this wasn't in my collection!

Despite having just about everything else that Lynch has touched that has ever been put to shellac... bizarre. Rectified with the swiftness anyhoo and scored this great copy from Discogs for just five English shillings :D

The elephant man is stunning and also one of the few non comedy scores from John Morris. All my lynch related music is in one section except this I think, this lives with Morris’ other work.

Actually, you know what. I’m tossing Mel Brooks/John Morris into the director/composer discussion. We don’t often veer too far out of our chosen genre here but Morris defined the sound of a certain kind of comedy for nearly two decades

Excellent call, H. That's exactly why I originally posed the question - to have memory refreshed about some great partnerships. Must admit I don't have any of the Brooks/Morris lps, should def seek out Young Frank and High
Anxiety. As for Morris other comedy scores, I shall forever kick myself for not grabbing Clue upon release - have you seen the damn pricetag on copies now?? Ayayay....

Oh man is Clue another one I should keep safe haha? I bought that score immediately, that’s been a favorite since childhood. I’m also a huge fan of his score to Wilder’s Haunted Honeymoon. A completely silly sort of clue precursor spoof of old dark house flicks that I really enjoy nevertheless

Yep - all colours of Clue go for 80-100 notes now, and that's if you can find one for sale. Yikes. Hoping for someone else to reissue that one with the film art :)

Hope you're enjoying it Tim - I gave it a couple of spins today and really like it, some of the tunes remind me very much of TD/especially the Haslinger years.

I'm really enjoying it. I need to go back and listen to II but I don't remember enjoying it as much as I am this.

I feel like @tim and I are on the same page today. Definitely spinning Lost Themes and my Bloody Valentine at some point. Probably going to watch the movie later also. My wife claims she hasn’t seen it, not sure I believe her as I watch it at least once a year.

That's appointment viewing at Casa de Sanboval where a viewing of My Bloody Valentine is our standing Val Day plan.

I love the fact the scream factory release of the bluray has a 4K scan of the Uncut version. That version is the only way to watch in my opinion. I took a buddy to go see the movie at a local theatre a few years ago. He’s never seen the movie. I was excited since it was his first time he was in for a treat, they played the threatrical version and he didn’t know what the fuss was about.
