I second that for the Caravaggio. I love me some Simon Fisher Turner! He's the one whose work got me focused on soundtracks way back when I was focused on punk and industrial/experimental.

This just arrived, I was a little worried as @monster said that the last box he saw of dead stock was warped. Luckily this copy is not. Sounds great, nice to upgrade from the cassette and happy to have both.

I think I've talked about this here but I have a weird relationship with the film. I hated it the first time I watched it and didn't revisit it for well over a decade. Over time I've come around to it, I still rarely watch it but don't hate it anymore. The characters are just so abrasive and unlikeable. The effects are top notch and still blow my mind to this day.

The score on the other hand is excellent. The Dead Suit is so damn good. I've already listened to side b twice.

A few morning spins. I've been working from home this week, quaratined again due to contact with some one who tested positive for covid. So I'm cooped up in the cold trying to stay focused and spinning records.

I love that score. I've been hunting for a copy for a while. I'd prefer a VS pressing but at this point almost take anything. I constantly see a copy from Brazil pop up on discogs but very rarely anything else.

It‘s well worth it - either the VS or this one, they both sound really, really good (not all OG TD do). I parted with my Varese as I prefer the artwork for the Silva Screen but that‘s of course just a question of personal taste.

Saw you listened to Arrival today, I will put that on later today - has been quite some time since my last listen, it‘s such a great piece of music.

Yeah, Arrival is wonderful. My wife loves Johansson, all of his records in my collection are actually hers.

I will always look back at Village of the Damned as a missed opportunity. When working on that project I was tasked to sculpt the final alien transformation sequence. It was broken down that I would sculpt three different stage busts of the lead girl Mara into the alien. The first stage (bust above on the left) the forehead starts to change. There is a second stage bust that I can't seem to locate photos of. The above right photo is the final stage alien wich Carpenter really liked. Also I found a test strip from ILM of some early composite shots. The problem is we always thought the alien would be revealed as a stand alone entity. In the end it was only just a composite shot over the actresses real face. So for me it was kind of a disappointment that they never showed the finished puppet. It was mechanized extremely well. These types of situations happen often and I was already used to it. The recent soundtrack release has kind of rekindled that early excitement about the film and it is cool to see people spinning it. Can't wait to get a copy.
