I'll probably grab this at some point, later on when you can get the black version for cheaper. I liked the movie, and the soundtrack was interesting, but I don't need to have it, especially not enough to fork over $37 for a copy over two months in advance. I also feel the era of limited Mondo releases are over. If you want a copy, you'll be able to get it without having to hit F5 for an hour. Obviously they will still do limited variants, like the Blue Sunshine Blue Iris or the Halloween splatter version, but the standard versions are easily had (at least with the releases late last year).

I am really enjoying this conversation in this thread, and I think it should be split off into a Vinyl Collectors Anonymous thread ;) I'm going to stop being a completest for Mondo and other labels and just get what looks good and what I'll listen to. Death Waltz will be my exception as I'm now a subscriber and I've enjoyed most of what they've put out, aside from a few releases which I liked but don't listen to very much after the first listen. With Waxwork, so far I've enjoyed everything they've done, though some of the upcoming titles don't seem as interesting to me (aside from the Friday the 13th films), so I might not grab it. If they did a subscription though I'd be tempted.

I guess my mondo complete collection ends today. Honestly, it feels good. I have RAID...I have Oblivion....I have never listened to either of them. What a waste of money. I have been thinking about selling off some stuff to make room. Maybe today is the day I start picking it out....

I ended up ordering it as I actually kinda like the score and at least it doesn't appear to have a picture of sandra bullock on it. It's not going to affect my ability to buy something else really as I'm more constrained by available listening time than budget. I'm a long way from being a mondo completist as I don't have and don't want some of the other releases and I'm not sure I even own a variant of any of them (does an orange halloween count?).

@un.poet: I suggest you to listen to Oblivion before sell it! ;)

Yep skipping Gravity. I, um, even skipped Omen (just don't think I'm a Jerry Goldsmith fan, if I'm being honest with myself). Shipping is just way too high from them direct, and there are so many other great records coming out right now that I'd listen to way more. That said, very happy I grabbed Blue Sunshine and especially Here Comes the Devil.

maybe it’s just me, but i find that i am just not that impressed with scores for newer films. there are a few exceptions of course, but i much prefer the music from films from the 70s and 80s. i have all of mondo’s releases thus far, so it would be a pity to miss out on one, but i’m just not sure about this…

Not just you…I feel the same too, I also generally prefer the 70′s & 80′s for the soundtrack genre. I think there are far too many soundtracks that appear to be punching well above their weight (just a personal opinion, of course). The Omen (mondo) soundtrack that you subsequently mentioned IS imo an ‘iconic’ one and also groundbreaking…so I can quite easily get excited by that new release (am waiting for delivery). I can't and won't be saying the same for Gravity.

As an aside...I wonder if there are plans for Omen II (vinyl), I really like the opening title track (film version) and various others...perhaps an expanded version like the 2001 CD release? I think it is certainly one of the better sequel films that have been made and the score (although not as great) is a bit more experimental (synth aspects) than the original one.

Pass on this.

When is the omen supposed to ship?

I'll probably end up selling Raid and Studio Ghibli. I've got all three Halloween versions and I'll probably trade the orange one at some point (I like the black better actually) as well as my Timecrimes variant. If it's just going to sit on the shelf, why bother?

@horseloverphat - i love OMEN II as well. such a great film and score. i even enjoy THE FINAL CONFLICT. i have the expanded CD releases of all three movies. would love to have the trilogy on my record shelf together.

as for GRAVITY, i listened to it on spotify and i mean, it wasn't bad, per se, but i just wasn't moved by it. sounds like a big modern hollywood movie soundtrack. i rarely enjoy that type of score, so i am definitely passing on it. (if i keep repeating it, surely it will come true, right? RIGHT?)

I really like the score! But that cover is meh, and the pre-sale date is a piss take. WIll just buy it when it hits the shops in May(!).

Has anyone seen Blue Sunshine on another distributor's site? I'd order but I don't want to pay the $7+ on shipping when media postage is half that. Plus I'd save a little on the state tax, too.

Check out his score to Runaway if you've not already. That might change your mind.

Second guessing myself: Can anybody remember Mondo not advertising what the variant is when a record goes for sale? I cannot. I can't even remember there not being pictures of it. At least a mockup.

Its got to be said, I quite like the score to Gravity, very nail-biting synth that adds well to what is a very good film, if just a little bit basic - which was my initial feelings on it but in retrospect it is supposed to be different to action blockbusters as such

Having said that, I have the soundtrack proudly on CD so don't really need the Vinyl edition. I never bothered with the Mondo Maniac after owning the DW one, didn't see the point...

Well, it looks like I am going to be the only sucker on the forum to own it. I guess I will let you all know what the variant looks like. Wait.... no I won't. I never get one. HAH! :P
