Yeah that version and screamers have the same cues.

I asked Lorenzo about it and just got a reply where he says that the record itself is original from the Cometa archives. So from 1979. No idea about why the new sleeve was made.

IIRC, they are found dead stock vinyl but without sleeves, so they printed up the new sleeves. Great design, although I would have preferred removable obi strips. I still want one.

I believe I first heard this on El Diaboliks World of Psychotronic Soundtracks (https://eldiabolik.wordpress.com/) and needed to have it. I have no idea anymore what it is, but it sounds brilliant. That first track... you should hear it on headphones.

Does anyone know the story behind this? Is it a library type of thing? Or from a TV show? Or simply a 'scary' record?

edit - reading the back of the sleeve doesn't make a lot more sense to me :-)
But Panic is the son of Shock and Shock is here: https://www.discogs.com/The-Creed-Taylo ... se/3521406
Maybe that was the record that was played on El Diabolik. I don't know anymore. I have both in my wishlist...
It was a very intriguing listen...

How does it sound? Mine is not good, very crackly. Screamers US press sounds better. I wondered if the stock copies Cometa had were subpar. They printed up new jackets and numbered them. The original was a numbered run of 500 though there are unnumbered as well.

Mixed bag for this afternoon's background tunes.

Trait D'Union is better than I remember as is the B side of the UST 179.

Mine sounded fine. I can’t remember hearing anything that stood out. Maybe an occasional pop but I didn’t clean it.
