Rabid weasels.

Being born in the 70’s and growing up in New York I can clearly remember the first time I saw Return of The Living Dead on cable (probably mid 80’s) and thinking to myself “hey that’s the Pathmark guy” when I saw James Karen on screen. :)

Even though my dad basically got me into movies by making me watch all the weird, long important ones when I was really small (2001, Woodstock, Once Upon a Time in the West etc) we only ever did one solo cinema trip together. And it was RotLD! I have such insanely magical memories of seeing that craziness on the big screen with him.

@static @scojo, awesome dad stories. My pops took me to see Lawrence of Arabia in an old Paramount style theater in Greensboro, NC when I was about 13. I also saw Last of the Mohicans with him on opening night in DC. Both incredible movie memories.
Good work today, gents. Solid posting.

Great stories fellas! My dad would always take us to R rated films even when we were really young. I loved that I actual got scared back then by films. I remember seeing the first Phantasm when I was 6 or 7. Scary and magical experience....definitely changed my life. Great time to grow up.

Evan, let me be clear on this one: you saw Phantasm in the theatre? First run? I can't even imagine what this would have done to my tiny mind back then. It was bad enough discovering it on vhs in my teens!

Scott 1979 I think was the release...yeah left quite an impression. My dad was like yours in a way, he would take us to adult stuff like 2001 and drama films. It would be like ohh another Donald Sutherland film but once in awhile we get a Phantasm or a Howling. I think seeing The Thing in theater had the biggest impact of all the films. My dad refused to take us to that one so I begged my mom amd she finally took us. So great! Oddly The Thing was not frightening to my ten year old brain, I just thought this is the coolest stuff I had ever seen.

That’s how my parents refer to him still to this day, as in “the pathmark guy lied to them about moving the bodies” . I didn’t realize how regional pathmark was for years, but yeah...New York/New Jersey, and probably at least PA , James Karen is the the pathmark guy haha
