Havershaw, I agree 100%. My copy was sealed as well ;) A similar situation I have is that of the Gramavision F13 release. Sealed with 3D glasses & hype sticker. BUT, I also own the Swiss Milan release & it contains the same exact music so I can just throw that on.

Never saw Day in a theater. I guess I would have been 12 when it came out.
Well, I was only 15 myself! (but must've looked older to get away with sneaking into an 18 cert ;)

Earlier, I discovered that The Last Starfighter LP I have is translucent. And now I'm discovering the same with Off Limits.

@bub there are a lot of late 80s SST vinyl that looks black but is actually translucent brown when held to the light.

I’m told that this was some sort of JVC super disc or equivalent? Supposed to be a higher quality of vinyl or something?
Someone explained it to me once but my brain’s hard drive is getting full and I apparently deleted the info at some point, haha.

That's interesting if true, Havershaw. I've seen pics here & there so I'm aware they exist. Just coincidental that 2 of my pulls turned out to be that way so I was a little surprised haha.

I think there’s two different things but basically both the same concept: extra high-quality, audiophile vinyl.

I think Quiex was the more popular one in the US - I just read that almost all A&M pressings from 1983 onward were pressed on Quiex.
There was also the JVC supervinyl, which was the same concept.

I have a lot of original SST stuff (sonic youth, dinosaur jr etc) and quite a lot of it is on this type of vinyl.

The 80s Pye Kinks represses are also on what I think is this stuff - looks black but it’s almost a wine-colored translucent. Weird. Never seen another one outside of all of those Pye reissues.

I have this great comp too, @33 - it's got The Hunger on the front right? Had it since I was a young un just getting into buying soundtracks, I distinctly remember finding it in the Virgin Imports section ;) It was the lp that introduced me to the awesomeness that is The Lift and Forbidden Zone!

I was actually going to if there are copies left in a month or so. But now you have me in doubts.

Yeah it's The Hunger on the front.
I think The Lift might be my favorite score out of all of them on this comp.

It's certainly a mixed bag. Side one starts with some super cheesy tracks with vocals, and just about when I'm about to give up on it, it goes into this string of really awesome psych tracks to end the side.
I think it's streaming on bandcamp.

FWIW, it's an excellent pressing. Whisper quiet vinyl, great dynamics.

I own The Lift because of this comp.

Well you guys never steer me wrong so after seeing all the praise for the Miracle Mile OST I downloaded the album, I listened to the first track and hit stop. I went online to try and find a copy but apparently the reissue was UK only or something silly like that so all of the copies were $30-$40 to import plus the hefty shipping fee. I decided to check ebay and discovered that the same folks selling those Ninth Gate LPs for cheap had this record brand new for $20 + free shipping. I instantly bought it. Fast forward a few weeks and it has finally arrived. I was spinning this last night and enjoying the hell out of it.

As you can tell from the pic, Beast really likes the record too, he had to get a few head rubs in while I tried to snap a photo.

Will do. I may have seen it at some point during the 90's but I don't honestly remember. I'll try to squeeze it in this weekend.

10,60 eur + cheap shipping from Juno. Pretty good soundtrack for that price IMO.

Anyone with this and the 2xLP version care to chime in on whether it's worth the upgrade?
