One of the films on the Dread Presents label, Burning Witches will be releasing the soundtrack to it this week. I was pretty excited to check this film out. Well, it was not good...at all. A few decent gore gags towards the end and overly shocking just to be but man was the film a bit of a slog. The main actor was serviceable in his role as a drug addict who wants to get clean, maybe I've just known and seen too many people like this in my life, he was not very believable but hey it's the movies, it's not real life. Then the actress who plays his friend might be in the running for worst performance I've seen in a film all year and she was wearing the weirdest wig (if it wasn't a wig, she needs some one to fix her hair because it looks like wig). Set up is drug addict wants to get clean, goes to his cabin in the country to dry out, calls his friend to come help him get clean, he hallucinates sees all sorts of crazy shit, can't tell what's real or not. Pretty much it. Crazy brutal death with a wine bottle later in the film. Everything felt very amateurish from camera work, to directing, to the script. I have not seen all of the Dread films yet but this is the weakest out of the ones I've watched. My recommendation is skip it and go watch Imitation Girl from Dread instead.
