It a 2lp expanded from La-La Land Records and yes, it does sound good. Really good. The first lp was a bit noisy so I'll clean it again and see if that helps. Even so, it's an excellent mastering job. I just put on the second lp and it's much much better. Nice and quiet like I would expect from LLL. Saving Private Ryan and Star Trek TMP (also expanded) are both excellent releases from them.

My first E.T. disc was noisy too, but a good cleaning solved the problem.

The movie turns 30 tomorrow. I've never seen it from beginning to end. I always seem to come across it about 30 minutes in. I'm not sure the film would have had the emotional imact without this wonderful score from James Horner.

Thanks Matt, will do! I have a pretty solid Sakamoto-san OST collection, this one is new to me. Although I've heard of the film naturally, it's not one I have seen.

Incidentally, and speaking of Shimizu-san... I discovered this week whilst teaching animation to young kids that they are into Kakashi as background/work tunes! I always like to try out different things on them, and guage the effect. Last time I went with 100% early 80s Jap environmental/ambient, and it had a supernaturally calming effect on a quite rowdy group. It was nothing short of miraculous.
This time, the group were more timid and cautious, so as well as the Shimizu I soundtracked the week with Talking Heads, B52s, ESG. Again, worked wonders- their energy levels/productivity went through the roof!

I really like my job.

I was obsessed with this film when I was 9, because we lived next to a small cinema so I basically lived in the cinema and was allowed in for free that year. Then I watched it as an adult many years later and realised it’s actually total nonsense. without it I’d have no ray liotta, James Earl Jones ( I didn’t see Star Wars until we got a vcr later) and James Horner welded into my brain

Sounds like a good job what age group are they? I definitely think different genres of music in a creative environment are a benefit. Particularly when people are having fun with it and 'really' being creative if you get me.

Speaking of Japanese new age I recently grabbed a couple of Kitaro LP's super cheap from a UK seller can't wait for them to arrive. Kitaro puts you firmly in the Zone.

Now spinning. Agree with @mateo the track sequencing is kind of jarring on this release. Really great sound though.

Also I do not dig the cover artwork the colour scheme and gimmicky die cut doesn't work for me. And the gatefold image, the same image everyone else uses that's not from the film.
