I have really nice "De-specialized" editions that some fine folks made a few years ago that are 1080p versions of the originals with proper color correction. I would welcome new 4K versions with open arms.

I'm really hoping that now that the merger is done that Disney will go ahead and do a full restoration. its such an easy sell, they'd be printing money. I have a suspicion that such a thing may come out when all the Skywalker films are done with in December.

Trust me you want the dnr on ANH. The print they used was a fifth or sixth gen copy. So each copy adds another layer of film grain plus what was there on previous prints as well. It was pretty ugly.
The dnr was done with a light touch.

Jedi was a first gen print. So thats personal preference :)

There are 1080 versions with and without DNR. When I find them I will let you know.

The print was a 5th or 6th gen copy?? How can this possibly be worth watching? I may not have read the complete scroll on the site of how they put these together, but I'm sure right up top it states they scanned an original 35mm print? (So, 2nd gen, if you will...release prints being one removed from the final neg print?)

@scojo i had read about the project on the original trilogy forums a few years back, but it seems like you’re right. I just read through the info on the 4k77 page and it looks like after the project was announced people came forward with different and better source materials. :)

That being said the non dnr’ed version does have some pretty nasty grain.

Thanks again for bringing this to the old attentions... my young niece is going to flip for this shit! (Her first personal editing project was trying to combine all the diff versions to get an HD 'original' of the trilogy, bless her - she eventually gave up!)

Only thing I will say, even more than Get Out, this had a real feel of a half hour Twilight Zone episode which he maybe had for the new show and decided he could explore it at feature length.
Plus, waaaay to clever/allegorical to be actually scary. Anyhoozle... enough of my blarny! Be interested to hear all y'all reactions on this one.

I just saw it this morning as well and thought it was entertaining enough, well acted...& I'm glad to see its success, but I told my wife as we left the theater as an addict raised on & still tethered to shows like the Outer Limits, Tales From the Crypt, Twilight Zone (etc....) I'm just not all that blown away....I'm excited to see where he goes next, Jordan's extremely knowledgeable about the genre & has a unique perspective and vision...but an all time classic? I'm not sure...

I finished Deadwax on Shudder. The 15-20min episode format is interesting, but felt a bit short to me. Is this an attention span thing? ;) The story was fun, especially all the elaborate stereo setups. I also watched Cold Skin, which is an early 1900's period creature feature on a remote island. Not the deepest plot, but enjoyable overall. I might check out the new Critters series.

Spike Lee's best film in ages. I mostly enjoyed it. The cast was fantastic. I had no idea that Steve Buscemi had a brother that looked just like him and was an actor. The film is about 30 minutes too long though, there long stretches of "character building" but honestly most of the KKK members were just 1 dimensional hate mongers so the time spent with them was pretty pointless. I know the final moments of the film are supposed to resonate with the viewer and Spike is really trying to make a point (which he already made), I just don't want to watch real footage of people dying and being physically maimed. It was a real downer to end my evening on.
