@ScoJo

Not me, although that would be an absolute dream...

As far as I can tell from the catalogue number it's a self release, coming next year. To answer your question, I think it's new Radiophonic Workshop material, but also utilises some unreleased Delia Derbyshire recordings as part of the mix.

They'd been tweeting of dropping off some test pressings at Bleep's current pop up shop in Dalston, so as I had a meeting in town, made a sneaky detour there and was lucky to find one.

The CD is already out, of course, although I know we all covet the black wax. It's a 2x LP pack and highly recommended :)

Savage pickup, Spun. An absolute surgical strike by the sounds of it. A Radiophonic heavy TP and Mr Holness' John Hancock to boot. Friday is treating you right, boyo.

I picked up the Waxwork release of INFERNO yesterday, and gave it a spin this morning - it's another colour-vinyl disaster sadly :(

There's a huge amount of surface noise, a kind of 'grinding/rumble' underneath the music which persists throughout. Played a few other sides to compare/make sure it wasn't an issue with my deck, but no - it's definitely a problem.

Anyone else had this issue? I've mailed WW and offered to upload video/return the discs (though I purchased it at a store local to me, so we'll see what they suggest...)

I’ll give mine a spin later and report back, I’ve been pretty lucky with most of the splatter releases, the only one that was a real problem for me was DW evil dead.

Nice spins @bez those two releases are on my "to eventually buy" list

I'll be uploading some pics later this week, as of right now my phone is on the way out and I have a new one arriving later this week with a way better camera. I've never cared about a camera on my phone but since I started posting stuff on here I hate when my photos are grainy and terrible.

Checking my copy to see if it sounds the same as @Scojo's one.

First track has a lot of surface noise. The louder the music gets it isn't an issue. But that first minute or so you can hear it.

I don't hear a rumble. Surface noise yes but mainly at the beginning and quieter parts. With a lot of records I have a surface noise like sound in the lead-in groove, but mostly it is gone when the music starts. Here it keeps being audible at the same rate. If this makes any sense to anyone?

@Bez: really don't wan't to f**k around (which i already do by writing this!), but don't you think Burb's does sound a little dull? listened to it on my stereo in the office the day i got it but i thought it sounded compressed. i mean, nothing wrong with the pressing, but i don't think the mastering sounds too good...

Thanks for weighing in @Bez - sounds like you can maybe live with the noise? Personally I can't, my copy is a disaster and (since there are lovely, gentle piano parts) the noise with this pressing is destructive to any attempt to listen to it! I'm just hoping WW will offer me a replacement, but it sounds like it may be a problem across all copies perhaps... (again...'sigh')

ScoJo I will have to give mine a listen. Have not been super happy with Waxwork stuff lately. They made a big, insinuation-loaded boast about their unmatched quality and how much better they are than everyone else (am I the only one picking up on these weird vibes?!) I just haven't seen it. The last several have sounded bad, and if the $12 WaxTime jazz reissues I see can get whisper quiet vinyl pressed I don't understand how Waxwork $40 releases can't. I emailed them about a severe pressing defect some months back, they threw up a bunch of hoops, and I never got around to sending them video clips they wanted. So I didn't bother emailing them about how bad The Burbs or some of the others have sounded. I think I will just stop buying the releases and let the subscription expire. I have been an enthusiastic supporter since Day One but feel a bit like a dairy cow these days if that makes any sense. Oh well

Interesting... where did this 'chest puffing' appear, @tex? I didn't see that.

They've changed plants I hear (again, not sure where that info was posted, but think it was brother @mateo who dropped the knowledge round here?)

Their pressings just seem wildly variable these days, even across a run it seems some of us get 'good' while others are 'no bueno'. My blue Manhunter sounds just fine, for instance, yet I've seen complaints about same up in here.

WW is a BIG spend for me- their releases generally set me back £40-£63 each depending if I wait for UK retail or crumble and splurge for direct-from-source. That's $50-$75 to put it in context! Madness at best of times, a kick in the balls when there's a problem with the QT.
