@max - kind of a rip but what can you do!

Buying vinyl is an expensive business.

I just got my 2 copies of each vinyl OST, but my total was only $87, are you guys speaking from Europe or just overseas in general? That is a lot of shipping $$$!!

My shipping came to 7 bucks for two LP's. Pretty reasonable

$15 for shipping the print within the USA. Maybe this is normal for mondo prints, I dunno.

Shipping to Europe is $20 for some reason.

It's the most expensive I think I've paid for a single lp.

Yeah I just checked my Repo Man poster order from last year & the shipping was $15. That probably includes "cost of materials" & not just the cost of shipping alone.

To be fair to Mondo international shipping, recently when I've been asked for a quote to ship an LP from the US to Europe (I sell stuff from my collection on Discogs to help fund more purchases -- hey, go take a look! "reddye6"), the price is $18.65. That's for the LP, outer plastic sleeve, cardboard stiffener, bubblewrap, and cardboard packaging -- sturdy but not extravagant. And I'm not charging for the materials; the $18.65 price is pure post office charge.

spot on @reddye6, my US order for 4 LP's was $7 for shipping which is good. Bottom line is international shipping rates just suck.

You all should be thankful there's only really Mondo and Waxworks out here in the US putting out good stuff. It seems almost EVERYTHING I want is located in the UK, especially when looking on Discogs. And I always pay double what homelanders would pay. It's the nature of the postal beast.

Mondo might refund people who ordered more than two records in one order. They do say only two vinyls per order. I'm pretty sure it's because their mailers won't hold more than two records so more would incur an separate charge because it's a separate package. $7 is high to ship one or two records in the US, it's a huge markup on their mailers which are ordered in bulk and probably cost less than $25 each.

There is no limit on the amount of records you may purchase, but the maximum amount of records per order is limited to TWO.

I just ordered my first Mondos... 2 of each. Let's see what all the fuzz is about :)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that shipping to Denmark for 4 vinyls was only $20 in total. (4 vinyls from e.g. Waxwork would be $100 shipping).

For Blue Sunshine, anyone know if the random blue variant is the same as the one that was sold a few days ago at the screening?
By antimax
#11119
@reddye6 it's a different variant. Translucent blue from the site, a crazy blue/white (iris) swirl from the screening.

That's aretty convoluted declaration right there. I'm not sure what they're up to. In the past, if you ordered more than two, they automatically charged you an extra $7. So $7 for every two records and they would round up (3 LPs cost $14, etc). They clearly want us to buy as many copies of the records as we want (then posters are limited to "one per person/per household). I'm wondering if they want us to place a separate order for every two LPs we purchase. If so, they'll be refunding a lot of money this weekend.

Perhaps they mean by title? Like 2 Blue Sunshine & 2 HCTD per order is the max. As a test I added 3 HCTD to cart just now & it automatically shot it down to 2 so they do cap it off. I think we're good.
You would basically have to place another order if you want an additional 3rd or 4th one.

Did you know what kind of postal service they use for their "international shipping method" ?

That could be it, Bub. I sent them an email last night asking them to clarify. I'll post the response here when they respond.

I would just think if people ordered 4 records on an order they'd charge double shipping, as they can't fit 4 in those mailers. I've never tried it. It's always been posted on the order pages for the vinyls, so it's not a new policy.

They certainly didn't charge double shipping when I ordered four.

Still waiting on an email explaining the new order cap/shipping deal. In the meantime, it looks like Mondo's RSD is going to be the Paranorman soundtrack, but not a picture disk as has been reported on various sites, and it's catalog number will be MOND-015.

And just like that, here's their response:

"The record mailers we use will hold either one or two LP sets. So in order to keep our shipping queue flowing we like to ask that people only purchase one or two per order. This keeps us from having to ask for additional shipping, and splitting orders up into multiple invoices and packages.

We do not currently have a limit on the amount of LP sets you can buy, so that is why we said buy as many as you want. Just make sure to keep them as 1 or 2 per order/sale.

Hope that clears it up! If not, ask us more questions, and we will get it settled."

I followed up with an inquiry about what will happen to orders of more than two LPs, but I'm guessing they'll simply ask for more shipping money or offer to pare back/cancel the order. This is definitely new, at least to me. When the Ghiblis dropped I bought for myself and a couple of VBs and had seven on order. Their system just automatically rounded up to the nearest even number and charged me accordingly. Same with Drive. Will update ASAP.

Here's, presumably, the final word on this whole thing:

"Because the mailers fit one or two LP sets only, any additional LPs purchased need to be shipped separately.
We would typically hold your order until you paid for the extra shipping. We would also contact you about making the payment to us.

However, since you have already contacted us about this, please send $7.00 to store@mondotees.com via PayPal and reply here when you have done so."

So anyone who ordered more than two LPs and werent charged additional shipping ($7 in the USA for example) then you can expect an email asking for additional shipping payments. I've no idea why they've shifted that onus to the buyer insteadnif automatingnit through their own system like they used to, but I'm guessing that it won't be "smoother" like they're hoping, but I don't run a label or a distro so who knows. Anyhow, I hope thus has been helpful to some of you. Cheers.

Haven't seen Blue Sunshine in forever I can't recall the OST. I tried finding a cut of it and Here Comes the Devil but couldn't find any. What types of music are they? I'm more of a Goblin or Carpenter synth and prog dude with lots of mood.

Come in out of the Sun, boy! Here's a cold compress and an aspirin. Better? Good. You had us all pretty spooked there for a moment. Now what was all that nonsense about unicorns existing, aliens building the pyramids, and Mondo shipping the next business day after a drop all about?
