I haven't listened to the Suspira remake score yet...any initial thoughts?

It's such a loaded project that i'm trying very hard to take it on it's own terms. I'll probably go check the movie out next week.

I tend to agree. But you know, weirdly enough, that arrived super fast. And my Profondo Rosso and Halloweens were packaged together - shipped Monday, and arrived *today* (and Media Mail almost always takes a week or more for it to show up). I was shocked when I saw on the tracking that it had arrived at my city this morning.

Conversely, I ordered Mandy from Two Headed Dog in Los Angeles and I watched it go from Los Angeles to Atlanta, GA to Memphis to Oklahoma City, and then finally to me - 12 days of transit.

I live in Phoenix.

Lol. I don't know what's happening over there at 2HD but shipping always takes almost 2 weeks to go from his facility to my house. It's just media mail. Most media mail takes 4-6 days to get me from any where in the country.

I ordered Frizzi's live rescore to The Beyond on CD from him in the beginning of September with a pre-order date of 9/28. I shot him an email almost two weeks ago asking to see what's going on if it had been delayed, he responded to me yesterday passive aggressively about cancelling the order if I don't want it and that he sources it directly from Italy and that it's taking longer than expected. Common courtesy is to let your customers know if there is a delay in something that's weeks past due. Then offered me 10% off my next order with the DFN discount. I've moved most of my business over to edsawesomesounds for newer OST orders, it's just certain stuff he won't carry like the weirder tapes and euro soundtracks so I still deal with 2HD a little.

Agreed - very loaded project. I've sort of tried to look at it as a movie that's its own thing that borrowed some story beats from the original, which is what it looks like to me so far.

I love this score, but I can see how some people might not. There's some droney, ambient stuff on it, but a lot of it is surprisingly melodic (which is my cup of tea).

Both of my discs had the biggest scratches on them I've ever seen on a sealed record. They're sending me replacements, and said that the production folks checked the new ones to make sure they were super clean. I have no idea how it happened, but it was the same thing on both discs - all the way from the top to the runout, just one big swipe on each disc.

My friend ordered Mandy direct from Invada in the UK the morning after the film came out and he got his in like 9 days or something.
This was my first experience with 2HD. I usually order everything from the labels themselves, but in this case, i didn't want to wait for it to come all the way from the UK, hahaha.

Amazing that there still isn't a hairnet equivalent for long, sharp fingernails.

ha!
I will admit, it was delivered to me by USPS on a *Sunday* (and it wasn't even due until Monday), so there's the possibility that something supernatural had a hand in this.

nice, @Mateo!

I'm bummed cause I ordered the 2018 Halloween the day it went on sale, but I still don't have it. Finally went out Monday and supposedly I won't get it until 10/31...which is appropriate, I guess. But several of my friends who ordered at the same time got theirs last week.

Mine came in opening day of the film and was waiting for me when I got back from the screening.

Regarding suspiria a bit more, the way I’ve been looking at it is this: if he had called it something else and just presented it as a period witch thriller people would have seen it and said he just ripped off suspiria regardless of the quality of the film, and if he says he’s making suspiria everyone just scratches their heads and goes why? Regardless of the quality of the film.

So in a way, if he was this inspired by the feeling that movie gave him to reinterpret it, im ok with the later option because at least he’s upfront about the intention. By all accounts it’s stellar, and if what I get is a creepy, moody movie about witches, I’ll be pleased.

Yeah, 2HD orders directly from the same labels, he's based in CA so what ever time it takes to get the records and then ship to you. So if it's something I can get for a similar price elsewhere, I order from somewhere else. Although the Mandy soundtrack seems to be in a weird position, I don't think they expected it to be as popular, even the place I ordered from ended up having to wait longer than anticipated to get it in, mine should be arrived early next week.

@mateo what is that last record you posted there?

猫 シ Corp. ‎– Hiraeth (aka more vaporwave). I have a lot of these heavy hitters on their original format of cassette, but I've purchased a few on vinyl to see which format I want to enjoy these tunes on long term. I can always sell the "loser" down the line.

This includes Takemitsu's killer 'clanging n' moaning' trad/avant garde score for KWAIDAN, been after this for many (painted backdrop) moons.....

There have been a few different series of Takemitsu-san's film music on vinyl, I love the artwork on this series/volume.

Awesome! Glad to be of service Scojo, I need to check out the movie. How is the rest of the record?

I grabbed a few of the other volumes in the series. This one (volume 9) is currently my fave. The music to 'The Pitfall' is also very Clangy, and twangy ;), but also features some lovely melancholy piano and string peices like 'The White Dawn', sumptuous and beautiful.

Mandy was super tough to photograph. I'm not impressed with the gatefold, it's super thin, bends really easy and doesn't keep closed very well. But the music is awesome so that's really all that matters. Gunstar Heroes is an incredible package, from the artwork to the sleeves for each record, the poster is beautiful and sound quality seems pretty great, although I may take it to my headphones to confirm.
#110973
inksb, did you have trouble getting that paper strip off that holds the gatefold closed on Mandy?
I figured it would slide right off but it wouldn’t budge. I ended up having to basically take it apart to get it off, sadly.
Somehow there was also a dead bug trapped in the shrink. I have no idea how that happened, but it’s still stuck to the cover so I just left it, haha.

Nice work, getting your Toru on. Ive only listened to the Kwaidan side so far, sounds amazing.

You should really watch the movie, it's one of my very favourites- blew my mind as a young horror/world cinema neophyte.
