THE BLOB - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Mondo Exclusive pressed on Pink/Purple Swirl vinyl. Limited to 400 copies. Expected to Ship by October 31st. $28

One Way Static Records proudly presents - for the first time on vinyl - Michael Hoenig's 1988 soundtrack for THE BLOB. A remake of the 1958 horror film of the same name, THE BLOB is all about an amorphous acidic amoeba-like organism that devours and dissolves anything in its path as it grows, where it begins to feed on the residents of the fictional town of Arborville, California. Much like the original film, the remake has gained a cult-following after its theatrical release in 1988.

Soundtrack duties for the film were handled by German composer Michael Hoenig. He was part of the burgeoning progressive Kraut & Kosmische rock scene in Berlin, where he was a member of the band ‘Agitation Free’ in 1971 and in 1975, Hoenig joined the electronic-pioneer band ‘Tangerine Dream.’ Michael’s music for THE BLOB is classic synth-driven electronica that fits the film like a glove. The voices, dark strings and feverish percussion create a rhythmic drive that embodies heroic desperation and a massive sense of relentless doom. Hoenig fashioned a creepy, compelling and atmospheric synth-based score, unleashing textured waves of sonic terror and suspense.

I've been more stoked for these OWS/Strange Disc releases than the Halloweens they've been accompanying on drop dates. They've been on fire lately!

Really excited for the blob.

By the way was anyone able to discern if the new Halloween release will have fx / dialogue? The decription is not really clear about it.

@static, I got the impression it wouldn't. I feel like it will be more in line with the VS release, only remastered in mono and resequenced to align more with how the music was presented in the movie. This one I'll probably get. I think it might actually sound better in a mono presentation.

^^ Don‘t know the first two but I like Cani Arrabbiati by Cipriani a lot. It‘s quite driving and somewhat brooding (which fits the film about three bank robbers who escape with three hostages - very tense and somewhat unusual film by Mario Bava). The score also features some catchy tunes (which probably play in the car radio during the film, need to rewatch it sometime soon). Looking forward to this!

Cool.
From their website https://www.spikerot.com/blog/post/11_e ... _type=post

“PHILOSOPHY OF A KNIFE” (2008) is one of the most extreme, shocking and disturbing movies of all time.
From Russian director Andrey Iskanov, POAK is a 4-hour-long journey to hell and back, showing with incredible details and cruel realism the experiments performed by the Japanese Unit 731 on the Chinese population during WW2. A real punch in the gut.

Can you imagine a soundtrack for such a movie? Iskanov himself and composer Alexander Shevchenko delivered a score in which the most wicked industrial music meets flickering piano ballads and beautifully distressing soundscapes. You’ll have a taste of this very soon.
Pre-orders for CHOICE CUTS FROM “PHILOSOPHY OF A KNIFE” will start OCTOBER 8 at 19:00 CEST.

The next two installments in our Soundtrack journey will be a sincere homage to our native land: Italy.

We are very proud to bring you for the first time in ITS ENTIRETY and for the FIRST TIME ON VINYL, Re-Mastered from the original master tapes, the Soundtrack from the very FIRST ITALIAN HORROR MOVIE of the sound era.
Riccardo Freda’s ”I VAMPIRI” (aka “The Vampires” / “Lust of the Vampires” / “The Devil’s Commandments”, 1957) is the forefather of a genre that in the following decades will bring Italian directors such as Bava, Argento and Fulci to become among the most influential horror filmmakers of all time.
The Soundtrack, composed by Maestro ROMAN VLAD fits perfectly with the flick’s atmosphere and will guide you through the streets of a dark and gothic Paris.
Fun Fact: Mario Bava stepped in as director in this movie, replacing Freda and starting his glorious career.

The last soundtrack announcement for 2018 is a gem by the great, late Mario Bava, one of Italy’s finest filmmakers, who had a big influence on many colleagues like Quentin Tarantino, Joe Dante, John Landis and many others.
“CANI ARRABBIATI” (aka “Rabid Dogs”, 1974) has remained unseen for over two decades due to the production company’s bankrupt and once released in the 90s immediately became a cult flick among movie lovers.
“CANI ARRABBIATI”, composed by Maestro STELVIO CIPRIANI, has been re-mastered from the original master tapes specifically for this release and will be available FOR THE FIRST TIME ON VINYL IN ITS ENTIRETY.

** Few hours ahead of this announcement we heard from the media about the passing of Maestro Stelvio Cipriani and while we’d like to send our condolences to his beloved ones, we feel honoured to release one of his most recognizable works and we hope to do justice to his unbelievable musical legacy.**

Pre-orders for ”I VAMPIRI” and “CANI ARRABBIATI” will start OCTOBER 22 at 19:00 CEST.

Cani Arrabbiati aka Rabid Dogs by Mario Bava. Havent, seen it yet, but it's aCipriani (RIP) for a Bava film, so I'll pick it up for sure. I VAMPIRI, I'm vaguely familiar with the movie but not it's music, anyway I want it bad. Wasn't there a Blu ray released recently for this movie ? The other one is a mystery to me, never heard of it. I'll pick up all three, let's see what this label is made of.

Thanks Gibbs for this heads up.

Zerzura OST
https://sahelsounds.bandcamp.com/album/ ... -recording

"Original soundtrack recording to the film Zerzura, the first ever Saharan acid Western, telling the story of a nomad’s search for a magic city of gold. Evoking the desert journey with free form guitar improvisations, the soundtrack is a meditation on the mysteries of the Sahara. Composed by writer and actor Ahmoudou Madassane, the instrumental score takes the familiar Tuareg guitar tradition into new directions, transforming desert blues into ambient soundscapes."

I'm a big fan of this label. They put out a Tuareg - Purple Rain Remake OST a couple years ago that is simply fantastic. The above track has a little Bruce Langhorn feel to it.

I was just coming here to post this. Sahel is a great label. My first encounter with them was Mamman Sani's La Musique Electronique du Niger LP. Love the Langhorne comp by the bye.
