The air is getting chilly at night and the wind is picking up. The autumn equinox has almost arrived along with my favorite season of the year. I just got tickets to a fantastic pair of screenings coming up here in October: Prince of Darkness with Alan Howarth live concert and Bubba Ho-Tep with Don Coscarelli attending. Very pleased to be able to attend these, although the crazy Cronenberg action for Beyond Fest in LA starting next week is enough to make your head spin. I saw they are showing a 35mm print of Akira for its 30th Anniversary which sounds interesting, but also digital restorations of Liquid Sky, All The Colours of the Dark, Django, and Maniac! Also saw that the Rendezvous crew is showing a new 4K scan of ABSURD. Tons of new west coast premieres as well... argh, have to make it down there some year. This year is just stacked along with Cronenberg and Howard Shore in person along with cast members from many of the films.

What a hot mess of a film, thanks @Bez. I felt like 3/4 of the film was shot in MED/Close up because they had like two sets for the entire movie, cover everything in fog , they'll never notice. Low tier Fulci but still fun if you are into the whole 80's Italian action rip-off scene.

Some bits from iMDB trivia:

Tragic fates befell several people involved with the production, Lead actress Claudia Jennings was killed in a car accident shortly after the release of the film, lead actor David Carradine died of accidental asphyxiation in 2008, and director Allan Arkush went on to make Caddyshack II (1988). This has led many to talk of "the curse of 'Deathsport',"

At one point, Claudia Jennings had to be physically removed from the set as she was drunk and high on cocaine (she had a well-documented cocaine addiction at the time).

Pre-production, filming and editing were all completed within six weeks.

Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead is credited on the soundtrack to this movie. He provided guitar riffs that were subsequently run through a synthesizer for the films soundtrack.

Laid up just now- back (which is always bad) has gone out completely. Going to be a long, codeine-and-coffee fuelled night. Need some long-ass, excessively noisy and violent cinema.
