artifice: Mine also looks like that. I don't think it's a problem...

Anyway, I think Spencer should produce and offer some custom made protective bags for the new formats, that would definitely solve it :) (The Fog bags was cool but a little large).

Personally I don't think custom plastic sleeves are necessary. I much prefer using my standard 400g polythene ones anyway. Also, it might push up the price of the records too, and the £20 mark is already the max I'm willing to pay.

I really need to get some more poly bags. Do standard 400g ones fit the new super thick sleeves OK?

Yeah, mine are perfect. I get them from www.covers33.co.uk - I've always found it pretty hard to find decent ones that aren't over-sized.

Cheers, in that case I'll go with your recommendation and put in a bulk order with these guys!

Wait, hang on... I just double-checked with my AoP13, seems I was confused and thinking of different sleeves. The 400g polys from that site DO NOT fit the new DW sleeves. Sorry, I got confused. However, they are awesome sleeves for regular sized LPs, just not the oversized sleeves.

Sorry. Hope you guys see this before ordering!

I got my oversized ones from eBay - just ask different sellers for the measurements of their sleeves. Ideally the new DW sleeves require sleeves around 330mm x 335mm, but I'd advise measuring each release yourself with about 5mm space on either side. :)

Will do! Thanks everyone for the interest so far - your contributions are vital to telling the story of Death Waltz. I'll pop a new topic up now.

No worries, haven't ordered just yet. I'll have a browse on eBay later.

@Re-Cat: could you check if your poly sleeves, fits on the new DW sleeves by inserting the record from the bottom/upper side? My old sleeves fits the new DW releases in that way and it's ok for me. Thanks! ;)

@max: yeah, I checked like that - standard polys are fine for width just not height (because the new DW sleeves are oversize in height only).

Having said that, there is no 'standard' size for poly sleeves, so some people's may just fit. It varies. Personally, I ordered those ones from covers33 because they measure 325x325mm, which is about 5mm shorter than a lot of the sleeves on eBay. I prefer to have the spines of my records on the open side of the poly, so you can see them clearly on the shelf (if that makes sense?). If the sleeves are too big, then the spine isn't clear.

@Re-Cat: thanks. Your use of the sleeves it's interesting but in this way you have to remove the poly sleeves every time.. I prefer the normal use, I like to keep safe the record, remove it frequently from the poly sleeves could lead to scratches...

@Max: I'm not sure what you mean. How are you removing the record without removing the poly sleeve?

Re-animated Cat: He means the vinyl itself, I believe. The way you describe, you have to remove the whole record from the polysleeve in order to get the vinyl out. Interesting, but I would also find it tiring :)

Yes, right. I mean that removing frequently the whole sleeve from the external poly sleeve may causes scratches on the cardboard, expecially when they are glossy (also fingerprints on it that I HATE!) :D

I think if you were to go outside of this forum and speak to people who have been buying records for many many years they would tell you that they also store their vinyl that way. Not only does it make the spine easier to read but the opening for the vinyl record itself is facing the closed part of the polythene sleeve therefore no dust can get into it. If you have the thicker polythene sleeves there should be no need to remove the polythene sleeve either or maybe it just depends on your setup but if like me and most others you have shelves full of records there is no problem sliding a record out of its polythene sleeve and putting it back in.

It's a listening format, you're supposed to enjoy it. All this oh I can't touch it incase i scratch the cover or get fingerprints on it soon that will transcend to other parts of your life and that's no way to live. You're paying a lot of money for records now and the more popular they get the more companies will put the prices up. You might aswell enjoy it.

Well, I think that buying records from 30 years is enough but maybe I have to wait more years to understand how to enjoy and storing my vinyl. I'm joking, of course, I don't like to take part in weird discussions about the "sex of the angels", just sorry to have said that "I hate fingerprints" with a smiling face! ;)

I understand. There's a reason why there is posters and booklets and printed inlays and gatefold sleeves with liner notes inside. They are there to be read and used. Companies want you to open them up and enjoy them. If you are still here in 30 years time I'd like to think all your DW records and other soundtracks you've purchased in the last few years have quite a few fingerprints on them and the sleeves a little worn because that means you will have enjoyed them. I think a lot of labels would be rather sad if they thought their customers were just buying them to keep stored away never to be seen or used.

@crazy: I was joking about fingerprints!!! I open and enjoy all my records, it's also true that I don't read again all the notes every time I listen a record so I don't need to remove the sleeve very often. All the stuff included in all this new reissues it's collectible stuff, I would love to attach every poster on the wall but I don't live in a castle... it's pretty obvious..
How have you stored it dude? Most records seem to do that a bit if you leave them propped up on their own. A spell of time packed in with other records on your shelf or crate should help.
Stored packed in a crate :/ I just pulled out a bunch of gatefolds, they're all very slightly expanded but so little that I never noticed. This particular one I pulled out and was like "shit, what happened?" Anyways, thanks for the tips, records in the fold from now on.

Just received Forbidden World and MS.45, these are 2 beauties!!!! I liked a few tracks from FW, not sure i'll give it many spin...but definitively loved Ms.45, this soundtrack is pure genius!!
Thanks for this great sub3 Spence, can't wait to see what's coming with sub 4!

Modern Vinyl just posted their RSD 2014 Calendar, which has the Death Waltz titles listed. I won't share them here, but I'm guessing now that it's out there it could be announced on the DW site.

I will say that the Twin Peaks releases aren't listed, so they are most likely part of Sub 4 (probably a good thing).

I have just received mine too - and I'd swap them around - love Forbidden World, but need to let Ms 45 work its magic - its not got me yet. Both lovely releases - great sound quality.
