And I happen to score a Dead and Buried ost lp at my local cheese shop that nobody know anything about.
As Eric Roberts would say "What the Fack is going on here!

One hopes @static will no longer have the only copy of Ghost of Mars with today's release from Varese Sarabande. :)

Really? Varese Sarabande is releasing Ghost of Mars on vinyl?

@Bez I can't wait for my 3LP of the Unsolved Mysteries. I'm hoping we get them before the end of August.

Well if this is only limited to 500, it's moving at a glacial pace because there are currently 451 in stock.

I wish I could work in marketing for VS- it's absurd that their titles (such as this) don't move quicker/sell out. Pretty convinced it's because they need to get into the online game more fully, and reach the right people.

I mean, no pre-release announcement or hype on a John Carpenter score seeing wax for the first time? And (like all VS releases) very reasonably priced?

I couldn't agree more. I was just boring Mrs Sanboval earlier today with a very similar train of thought. I'd've sold them out today and I'm essentially a luddite. I can only imagine what our savvier STBCers, such as your good self, could accomplish.

I'm gonna have to say that I like the way VS does it. It's refreshing to be able to go to a site and not fight 3000 other collectors and flippers for a limited 500 piece release. I hope they don't change anything. They're a well known label and the people who want their stuff will find them. If it turns around and they start selling out quickly everyone will be on here complaining about not enough copies for the demand, web site going down, ect.

just me 2 cents

Tim- I have to agree and I approve all your sentiments. I retract all my earlier rash statements, got caught up in my excitement about GoM and wanting everyone to jump on this superb, underrated JC score.
These long-established OST labels such as VS, Milan, Intrada, have commendably continued to plow their own furrow and seemingly not panic about the newer, hugely succesful players at the table. To continue that metaphor- they've played a thousand hands, won and lost, have a great poker face and plenty of chips in hand. The quality of their output speaks for itself, with focus on the composers/music, with every LP having those details prominent on the sleeve. Something that does I'm afraid drive me a little nuts about the 'art-ification' of soundtrack/score album releases ;)
I guess it's far more valuable, in consideration, that true fans such as yerself are shouting from rooftops and drawing attention to these great records.

Having said that, I wasn't really suggesting that VS should become a cluster-fuck-collector-bum-rush - that's not really their thing. But I have noticed that their limited vinyl titles don't tend to sell out generally speaking - I mean, their fantastic release of Bernstein's STRIPES score (which I love) is still available a few years after it's release.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting that a leopard should change it's spots, just that it's stunning this title hasn't sold out already. I don't think a company has to have a comic book cover, triple split splatter vinyl, and only list the composer's name in the dead wax to get the word out about realeases like this in a more efficient fashion.

I can't find anything about this release, but it sound great, side b has a lot of dialogue from the dinner scene, and its super short, but lovely.
So I did a little private sleuthing, going to some of my sources on the street, and I found out who is pressing this- I won't divulge here, but they're out of Texas appropriately enough. They (wisely) don't have the LP listed online, but I'm gonna hit them up an email and see if I can't buy one direct/have it shipped. If this is something you'd like an update on then email me and I'll let you know if it seems that's a goer and you can do likewise.
