This is my favorite book of all time, I actually just tracked down a first edition for not to dear a price. (I’m a book collector as well as records, imagine the weight on my shelves haha) I read it every yeah in October of course :).

I love this movie, it has its flaws, but Jonathan Pryce and Jason Robards are perfect and the score is one of my favorites.

I have an original US one sheet for this as well, David groves design on that poster is stunning.

I’d love a new adaptation, but only if they retain the period with no updates, which I doubt will ever happen :(.

This was a lot of fun to see on the big screen again, twenty-nine years and two weeks later. I'd forgotten how beautiful the set design was, particularly the Gotham exteriors. Great matte paintings and model work. Also, the score resonated with me in a way that Elfman's work rarely does. I was on the fence about buying the (supposedly) forthcoming Mondo release, but no longer. Plus, as always, Prince.

God damn, that’s awesome. Never gotten a chance to see it on the big screen, there’s something about that film man, I’ve alwasy been a huge Batman fan and I diligently eat up any and all adaptations. This is still the most special, most unique, and most gorgeously designed, scored, and soundtracked comic book movie ever.

@Mateo - Feel ya, my friend. A freshly 13-year old young @deaf was allowed to catch it in the theater with a friend that summer '89 and it blew our goddanged minds. I just about wore that soundtrack tape out as well that year. Fukn Batdance.

Crikey, Deaf. I absolutely ruined that tape. There're probably Lil Mateo thumbprints in that foldout j-card. I need to dig out my Batdance 12" for a spin.

I’ve got a fond memory of a friend picking me up from the upper east side of Manhattan to drive back up to the ‘burbs and BLASTING “partyman” “batdance” and “trust” on loop the whole ride up circa summer 2008.

I was 12 when Batman came out and it was the first movie I saw in the theater more then twice. Saw it six times. :) and then countless times on home video.

I really enjoyed this film. An fantastic performance from Lauren Ashley Carter. It's a small indie sci fi film that is mostly about it's characters. It's available for streaming on Amazon Prime in the US.



This was a fun slasher from Finland that I thought I had figured out and then didn't and then did. A bit better than expected, it had some beautiful night time cinematography.

Mary and the Witch's Flower - I believe @texasvinyl was talking about this in another thread, and I watched this one with my daughter over the weekend. It was enjoyable fantasy in the PG-realm with a nod to classic anime character design. The kid ranked it pretty high up near her favorites Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away, which makes sense as the director Hiromasa Yonebayashi was an animator on both of those films. Plenty of cutesy cat animation if you're into that. This one felt a bit more in the little kid realm than others I have seen. There was a theme in the score that really caught my ear, and I believe it was used in one of the trailers as well. I did not really pick up on this until @tex mentioned it, but Mondo just released the soundtrack on 2LP. I was oblivious to all the marketing around this one, but I would expect the Ghibli crowd are all over this already.

@deafmetal I grabbed Mary & the Witch's Flower yesterday, hopefully I'll be able to check it out this weekend.



This was an interesting film. Not spectacular nor even close to the level that was Martyrs, it's worth a watch though. It's about a family who move to a new house that was inherited from an old relative and some truly fucked up shit happens to them the first night they stay there. The two young actresses were very good and I enjoyed the mother as well. I did read this morning that the blonde actress had an easily avoidable and unfortunate accident on set the last day of shooting where she was encouraged to pound harder on glass in a door, she asked if it was safe to do and was assured by the director and producer that it was, it shattered and cut her face really bad, needing 60 stitches and she has a permanent scar because it, most likely ruining what ever acting career she could of had in the future.
