@Static/All: Great spins so far this week! Makes me kind of jealous as I work in different city than where I live, so usually no spins for me during the week. But I went to my favourite record store here this evening and listened to the new Nils Frahm album which is outstanding.

@Static - You had me at Graceland. The rest was just bonus material.

@ChrisMcQueen - I haven't heard that new Frahm yet myself, but he rarely, if ever, disappoints.

I would for sure recommend it, it‘s one of his best imo - and a somewhat new direction for Frahm (you hardly hear any classic piano). In addition it‘s one of the best sounding records I have listened to, ever. It‘s hard to describe or maybe doesn‘t sound that interesting on paper but the recording room seems to become an instrument by itself, the studio has its own ‚sound‘. I‘ve basically listened to it on repeat for the last 2 weekends (so today was not the first time, the owner of the record store also sells hifi equipment and he demoed a nice pair of speakers to me).

Pretty psyched - I'm doing a full on performance art Moroder DJ set for my pal's birthday this weekend...nothing but GM, handlebar 'stache, 80s synth guru 'stume....the works!

I did it once before and it was a raging success. So much so that I stayed in character for about a week afterwards I think...

I love the effects in the film, so nice to see practical still shine and on a budget too. I wish I liked the film more though. It felt a bit too much of a homage to everything they love than a real cohesive story. Still makes for a fun watch though. I should check out the score on it's own though, I liked it while watching it but I wasn't too focused on it.

I lucked out at the local audio gear repair shop yesterday. I was dropping off my receiver to have some work done on it and found some scores for dirt cheap, Thief, Sorcerer and Firestarter. All three for a total of $24. Pretty happy about that.

Not sure how Mondo was able to give this box set away for $75 but it was well worth it. The 4th LP is the one I got it for. All the outtakes and rescored cues. And can you believe, it's black vinyl and the noisiest of the 4 lps

I've said it before, but this is one of my favorites.

Incidentally I was watching Ridley Scott's director's cut of Legend the other day for the first time in a while, I'm always torn between versions as i have a soft spot for both the Goldsmith score (which is in his top 5 of all time) and the TD score, which is also just fantastic. Now there's a scene in the directors cut which may have no been in the original European cut with Goldsmith's score, or it may have always been this way, but right when Tom Cruise is looking up into the tower where they use the mirrors, a cut from Psycho II has been used to fill the gap. I was in the other room when that scene came on and it jumped right out at me.
