@chief @static-

Some VERY nice selections. Damn...I'm still without a deck just now! But the good news is, someone has collected my replacement Lenco GL85 for me in London and it should be at Chez ScoJo in the next couple of days.

Never go cold turkey guys! It sucks balls!!!

I've been deckless myself since just before Christmas. No bueno.

Bummer all you guys without deck privileges
Evan, which model Denon are you running? Is that a DP 1200?

Lovely. I'm thinking about a 47F or something like that.

If I recall that is an automatic deck?

I have several Denon's over the years and always loved them. Build quality is great, and for me, one of the most beautifully designed decks. Clean and simple with a classic look.

Jajajaja. Fully automated. Never had a one before. Had a few semis though. Agree completely on the style. Stunners all; dated to a degree, but that degree is in my wheelhouse. Your plinth, of course, take that to the next level.

@mateo @scojo, say it ain't so! Two STBC legends without decks!

@static, solid spins as always. I regularly return to The Boogey Man. I have the OWS version. I see your reissue has the illustrious 45rpm sticker - I don't recall the OWS being 45rpm, but my memory is shot when it comes to stuff like that these days.

Ha, thanks chief.

Well here's the good news...

The deck which is on it's way- advertised as FWO (inc strobe and cue lever, neither of which ever worked on mine) and Ex+ cosmetic condition, recently serviced, new phono cable, with original lid (itself super hard to find, and when you do they are ridiculous price!):

Plan is to drop in the guts from this into my OG white plinth (also hecka rare) and replace anything from mine that's in better condition - my arm/buttons and their chrome are tip top for instance:

Leaving me with full compliment of spares (excluding the motor, which is what gave up ghost on mine) inc. headshell, arm, circuit etc.

Also plan on sourcing anti-skate mech and weight while I'm at it, and generally getting her fully restored. That will include putting in a little diode board before the motor, which stops spikes going into it that eventually cause failure- an issue with the GL-85 transcription/belt driven deck which Goldring/Lenco addressed in later direct drive models.

We shall see...

Deathblow Partitioner BGM by Takashi Miki

https://www.discogs.com/三木たかし-中村啓二郎-必殺仕 ... e/11319323

Part of the long running Hissatsu 'Deathblow' TV dramas, unlike most of these Hissatsu bgms this is not by Masaaki Hirao, which I think are the better ones, just starting to delve into all these records though.

That sounds like a fun, if daunting project. I had a fairly decent Sansui that worked really well for a fee years, but then just up and quit on me. No prior warning. Well, none I could detect anyhow. And even though the model I had is fairly reliable, I'm a bit gun-shy about reinvesting in it. So, now that the Holidays and all of their accompanying debits are in the rearview, it's time to buy a new deck.

Snagged this one today. Feel like it's one you don't see very often. Classic Horner score. It still has the promo insert hyping the Pizza Hut + JC Penney merchandising tie-ins.

Land before Time has a very ET/John Williams vibe to it.

More loot from today's visit to Forever Young Records, a massive store in South Arlington. Also snagged an original of Slaughters Big Rip-Off, Tangerine Dream Firestarter, original Varese EFNY, and very surprisingly a copy of Nicolai's L'Alpin on Gemelli.

I am still holding out hope for a Japanese copy since I like that cover better.
