I really wanted to pick this up whilst in the US, but opted for a couple of other bits which I'll post later. Had a few spare hours in Brooklyn to hit a few 2nd hand places, but mostly I did well at Generation Records near Bowery St/Washington Square.

Oh, very cool indeed thanks. NY does not, how you say, fuck about huh? Quite the action packed 4days.... NBC tour of the 'Rock', in audience for taping of Late Night, Museum of Moving Image inc Henson Exhib and upclose with original movie fx inc. Blade Runner, Central Park, general sightseeing inc movie locations hunt, Halloween Parade, Brooklyn, G.Village and Washington Square, Broadway+Times Sq (ugh), more of the NY subway than I'll ever need, and a few hundred yards from a major terror incident....
Def need to go back and explore further in the burroughs, Wash Sq was my favourite bo-ho bit for sure and Brooklyn/Queens are very 'real'. Had been sat for exactly 30s in a dunkin donuts upon arrival when I heard a guy nearby say 'hey, foggedabahhdit!!'

Christ, sometimes I miss being Back East.

Welcome home, Scoj.

@Bez - That Popol Vuh - Cobra Verde is a damn fine listen. I must confess to not having spent much time with them in the past yet am finding some of their music quite meditative now that I have lent them an ear. As for the Space 1999, I wanted it, but in the end I won't spin it enough to justify the purchase.

@mateo -

Cheers blood. What is your old stomping ground then?

My gf lived in NY for about 6mths before we met, and her summary regarding it's excitement/stimulus quota was 'a weekend in NY is equivalent to about a month back home...'

Mom's side from Brooklyn and Queens, Dad's side from Boston and a little Providence, RI. I was born in Upstate NY and grew up in Northern New England. I got that corner pretty well covered. Except Connecticut. Fuck that suburb.

Hahahaha, for 8 months I worked in midtown, and for those 8 months I never needed to take the subway since it was a few minutes walk from grand central.....other than the commute I couldn’t stand that job, but those 8 subway free months, whooboy what a treat those were

The subway. Good god....so many Jacob's Ladder flashbacks the last few days. I can't even imagine what it was like before the >aherm< cleanup/gentrification began. I thought London was bad! Mmmmm, soak up all that psychogeographic misery!!! (I'm off to watch certain slime-related scenes from Ghostbusters II, which I now understand was a documentary...)

A damn fine serie of compilations. This one, the "jazz expressions" is probably my least favorite of the 4, but I do like it.

@static @tim - I will be taking my 14yo daughter to see Thor: Ragnarok this week -- mandatory viewing, heh. Interesting to see so many copies of Razorback in collections. How is the film? The main theme is pretty epic:

I still need a copy of Sortilegio, but have almost pulled the trigger a few times on that one. Priorities. :)

Heading out to see Goblin perform tomorrow night, and getting in some last-minute revisits:

@deaf Razorback is about a giant wild boar killing people in the Australian outback. So in other words well worth viewing. it's a lot if fun, and it has some pretty cool practical effects when it comes to the giant boar.

@static - Sounds great. I will check it out.

@static @skeletonbutt - Back from page 199; I am inclined to agree with you both about this collaboration:

The main theme just slays, followed by a cohesive and dark journey. The opening on the B-side, Flashing is top-shelf experimental electro. I can see why they pressed mixes of those two tracks as a DJ 12" and a 7" single. Stunners both, and I love hearing the main theme performed live.

Tenebre is an excellent album, and that main theme is so fun. The artist Justice remixed it into two tracks, if you didn't already know.
