@spun - That is such a great Nicolai album. I find it interesting that the opening track on the reissue,
Saba, was left off the original LP. I just adore that tune, and it gets stuck in my head. Anybody know if it was ever released as a 45? Sospetto performed an excellent cover of the song recently that was released by Cineploit on 45, and it was also included on their LP.
The Manhattan Baby reissues arrived today from the label:

Not sure whether to blame Poste Italiane or USPS, but my box was heavily battered and crushed. The vinyl is ok, but my 36-year-old original Beat LP sleeve is now in better condition that this new one. ;) Side B of the reissue contains additional material and themes that were not on the original LP (which is really only side A on the Beat LP). Many of the additional themes are reprisals of the first four on side A, but at slightly different arrangements and tempos. There is also the brief Egyptian theme in Sequence 5, which is performed by the Frizzi 2 Fulci band in their set, as well as a couple sax solos which seem to be going for a NYC vibe. Not a bad effort here, but no new sleeve notes, or even a reproduction of the short notes from the Beat CD. Anyway, it's good to have another copy for when I eventually wear out my original copy.
