Like the 99% of this forum I am a vinyl junkie, yes I am. I buy records, thats my thing, I love records, I love the music, I love playing them and touching them, digging is my favourite sport, I love bands, I love buying records at live concerts... AND of couse I love soundtracks as an unic and amazing piece os music BUT I'm not so much into movies, the movie world, I'm a fan of the Dollar Trilogy and a bunch of 70' and 80' Horror movies, ok, but I'm not into the movie world, actors, directors or festivals, I've never been and I don't think I would like.
I know Fulci because of Frizzi and the Carpenter movies for its soundtracks. Since the reissue madness (I love you record labels) I'm a little bit more into Horror and film world, and I've dicovered amazing and incredible movies such as The Visitor, HOTD or Let The Right One In since but still don't like to watch 3, 5 or 10 movies a week.

Am I the only one here? God! answer me, am I alone in this world?

Love.

I am the same way. I like film scores first and foremost because of the instrumental music. I am really into movies too, but I don't go digging up every single obscure film ever recorded, as I know there are people much more into it than I am that will do that...and then I can read through their research down the road when I want to watch something new or different. I do like buying the soundtracks without having seen the movies because then if I really love the music - I usually am much more interested in seeing the film. Tangerine Dream is who taught me that the film score can easily exceed the quality of the film sometimes.

Carpenter for me though is a different story. I grew up absolutely in love with his films. Buying the soundtracks to Carpenter films really was feeding my nostalgia for both the Halloween holiday, and obsessively watching his movies as a kid in the '80s. Plus he has created some of the greatest theme music in the history of cinema, for me at least.

This forum for me is like findind petroleum! You know? I've dicovered films I didn't imagine they could exist, It's so so helpful that I don't have to dig into imdb, rotten tomatoes or whatever boring movie place to find a good movie to watch a sunday night. Your know? I thought Carpenter movies were bad, real bad movies, that was 6 or 7 years ago hahahathen I tried with The Fog and BOOM, I'm a fan, I trully love the guy and his movies. I'm learning a lot lately but still feel remote from movie world, even underground movie world.

I was always into zombie moves and the Nightmare on Elm Street films growing up... so the raft of cult horror soundtrack releases lately has appealed on both a nostalgic and musical level... the music also takes me back to being a kid in the 1980s - a much simpler time.

Was too young to even know about the Italian giallo films of the 1970s, so I've enjoyed going back and discovering those... luckily the Arrow Video label has been releasing some great old movies cleaned up and with extras provided...

Still, some great movie re-releases coupled with some great soundtrack re-issues has put a squeeze on my pocket, so will have to become a bit more choosy! There is a point at which a hobby like this can become an addiction ;)

I've always been a movie buff, but mostly fairly mainstream (Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Carpenter - if you can call Carpenter mainstream).

I don't know half the movies that DWR, WW, OWS and Mondo are releasing on vinyl, but I usually buy the vinyl anyway.

In the beginning, I tried to track down and watch all the movies, but it often proved difficult and expensive to get them in good quality, and often the movies were not as good as the soundtrack.

I have discovered some very good movies this way, though: Zombi 2, The New York Ripper, A Field In England, Maniac (original), Re-Animator, The Last House On The Left...

I have also discovered a few very bad ones - Cannibal Ferox springs to mind. But a killer score and a great looking release :)

Who is this 1% you speak of? Ronwell?

I grew up loving movies and music. I was the nerdy kid who collected from an early age, loads of videos and then onto DVD. Was heavily into music, not specifically soundtracks but nine inch nails, neds atomic dustbin, mega city four and of course clint mansel in PWEI.

Got older, had kids and watched less and less movies and then found a new for music through vinyl. So for me listening to soundtracks and film scores on vinyl combines every I've loved and love. The sound, the texture, the packaging and of course that love of collecting something!

Mega City Four!!! how how how haha true classic. My all times favourite band, AINA from Barcelona are a mixture of MCF and Jawbox. Look at the guitar's shirt (on the right) http://davidjcubberly.com/centralpages/photos/01.jpg

The 1% must be some flippers who listen to "320kbpshrtjafuck mp3 with their Dr. Dre headphnes maaaaan" that's what I call a life experience
