Saw a live performance of Lala Land by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra tonight at the Meyerson Symphony Center. They did a great job with it and seemed like they had a "clean" version of the film to play over. Some parts like the jazz club scenes were improvised. And Wayne Bergeron was there to play his trumpet parts!! Seriously, check out the guy's resume, ridiculous.

If you're ever in Dallas I highly recommend making plans to see a performance at the Meyerson. One of the best symphony halls in the world and the orchestra is performing at a very high level

I was not aware that the Internet Archive also was collecting movies. I did not check out the quality, so I am not sure if it is of better quality than what's on youtube, but it does feel like an interesting source to check out some interesting releases...

Thanks for The Survivalist! What a movie. Very raw. Great new directors out there. What they can do on a limited budget and with great storytelling!

Nice one! Glad you enjoyed the recommendation.....they don't always work out ;)

I might watch that film again sometime - it's pretty heavy but extremely realistic and interesting characters in that situation I would say, which you don't often get with 'apocalyptic' scenarios (The Road comes to mind...)

House on Sorority Row is flippin fantastic, btw...that deserves a re-watch soon to.

Come for the Stallone, stay for the James Woods and Eric Roberts scenery chewing masterclass. The Specialist is worth a watch. Certainly a drunken or hungover one.

After Dunkirk (intense, very emotional,amazing!) followed by mother! (SOOOO INTENSE! Batshit nuts, amazing!) I was utterly overwhelmed and had to skip It :-/

But yeah. Aranofsky. Holy god man, once I realised where he was headed - and that he was heading there FULL BORE, my eyebrows were raised waaay the fuck up, mouth agape, grinning madly.

And yep, I found it to also be Very Fucking Funny.

There were about four of us in there including an older fella, and as I was sat in stunned silence reading the (also hilarious!) character names in the credits, I overheard the old chap on his way out saying to the usher 'well that was a lovely film...' and the thing is HE WASNT BEING SARCASTIC.

Amazing.

Need to check out Mother as well. I have only heard people raving about this (well in my neighbourhood anyway).
