4k. Wowsers. Visually looks great although slightly confusing to see exact same scratches and dirt over first few credits as you see on every other released version (vhs, dvd, streaming) suggesting these flaws are inherent in the camera negative?

Sound wise it’s an improvement but not perfect - they have boosted just the occasional famously-inaudible line (mostly Prochnow) which comes with added hiss for those parts. Pretty crude and the audio generally doesn’t appear to have had that much polishing.

But mann… the film has never looked so good.

I need to revisit this! I have maybe seen this once or twice back in the eighties. Not sure why it did not catch on with me as a kid so I look forward to picking this up and viewing it fresh.

Always had a soft spot for The Video Dead. Amazing how these movies clean up. Sense some influence on Peter Jackson's Dead Alive with some of the zombie silliness...like them being served around the dinner table. Also worked with one of the fxs dudes over 30 years ago so fun to see him in the special features. Still don't know what to think about Terror Vision.

Evan I disagree here, I think all friends and loved ones should be subjected to Nightbeast. It's a masterpiece that everyone should watch :)

I have seen Dune Part One in the cinema but never got to see Part two. Tonight I am watching both back to back at home.

I have not seen any of the Dune films...just some clips of the 80s version. That big carlo rambaldi worm in the case. I understand that people are quite fond of these films around here so probably should make the effort to see one of them.

I rather enjoy Lynch's Dune, it's definitely got issues but still quite enjoyable. The two new ones are really great though and highly recommended

Lynch Dune:
stunning, glorious, colourful, butchered, vivid, surreal, insane cast, widly ambitious, unique

New Dune:
brown. really, really brown.

haha I will definitely have to see the 80s version now...then at least one of the brown versions. Kind amazed how it has slipped past me all these years especially after really enjoying a lot of Lynch films.

This is a film I will revisit every other year or so. Sort of a companion piece to Glengarry Glen Ross were turning drab office criminality into high art. I have no doubt that David Mamet must have been influenced by Save the Tiger when writing Glengarry. Some movies are better then film and for me this is one of them.

Watched Y2K last night, not worth anyones time. It's ok, bunch of 90's kid jokes stitched together with a typical high school horror drama

I also watched Serpent's Path and Eyes of the Spider last week, enjoyed both but found Serpent far more engaging of the two. Has any one see Kurosawa's remake of Serpent's Path? or his other new 2024 film Cloud?

I've watched 1 & 2, I think they are nasty slashers w/ very impressive practical effects. Unfortunately for me they just are too mean spirited and feel like the creator is reveling in the violence in a way that makes me feel uncomfortable. Also the second film is insanely long, 2.5 hours for a slasher is crazy imo

Maybe try the short as an appetizer, Evan? It’s all there from the jump, and you’ll figure out if it’s worth investing more time in the Terrifierverse.
Like Inks I find them too nasty, and aesthetically unappealing - but more crucially I find nothing especially interesting about Art the Clown, neither the design/character nor the performance. It’s excruciatingly ‘try hard to build a horror icon’ for my taste. But more fool me - it has worked like gangbusters and everyone seems gaga for his juggalo-adjacent nonsense! ;)
