@Scojo

you made me drop the dollar! had been on my want list.

I also picked up 'In Mirrors - Escape From Berlin'. sounds incredible!

I would also recommend the 'Home OST' by JJ, and that Heaven 12"

@mateo

Windswept will be getting a vinyl release, which apparently is music from Twin peaks.
PLEASE NO SPOILERS! not seen any of it, yet.

I was hoping that would be the case, Dollar. And I agree that In Mirrors is a fine LP. IDIB is getting their records mastered by Bernie Grundman now. Not too shabby.

Starting my PTO with this beauty! It's been a while since I had it on the table. Long but so worth the time. I like the "have a word with yourself" section TG started in podcast 82. This is one of those for me.

Well, I'm over at my lovely sister's place and she's spinning it - she has pretty good taste in film music. I've noticed she actually has a few tasty items that I don't - we'll spin this jazzy li'l number next:

I have this one myself, so no need to pinch my sis' copy ;-)

Im genuinely not exaggerating when I say that I utterly LOVE this soundtrack. It was in my top 10 with a bullet that year. I gurantee you would not regret it.

And yep on the Blur box. My niece is an addict, but I can say that myself, my whole fam (and gf)are all 100% Blur People (and 100% not Oasis People)

Please forgive my ignorance, but is that the line of demarcation? Blur vs Oasis?

If you lived through the 90s in the UK, yes, that's all there was! I have both in my collection, but definitely fell into the blur camp - Oasis completely lost me after the 2nd album. Forgive me for taking this off-topic...

@ScoJo, looks like the ship has sailed on OLLA on vinyl, but I'll stream it and download if it floats my boat.

Yeah, well I was kinda jokin - it's cuz back in the heyday of Britpop there was a (mainly music-press created) rivalry between the two which some fans went along with, although of course the mouthy Gallagher bros fanned the flames.

But kiddin aside - I grew to love Blur quite late in the game (I didnt listen to much Brit rock/pop in the 90s, was more US based in my taste back then).

And I can't stand Oasis. ;)

Fascinating, boys. Thanks for the education. I must say that, here, my friends were big into Oasis through their first three records or so, but it didnt seem like Blur was much of an option for folks at all until later in the 90s. But that's just one fella's poor memory from an ocean away of a scene he wasn't all that into anyhow.

I can believe it @mateo. Blur were very British until the 5th album. I can't imagine it travelled well. Most of the rest of the world (and ScoJo) were pretty much into US music at the time.

Scott's right, it was a media/marketing construct (like "Britpop" itself), but to this day there are fans (mainly Oasis fans, in my experience) who still hold some sort of grudge against the other band. It also took on a bit of a class war sub-text - working class boys vs middle class art school types, etc. Fascinating stuff! Clearly I was just working class pretending not to be!

@Evan - That one is a favorite, especially the lengthy mindtrip titled 1966 - Let The New Age of Enlightenment Begin. Hope to see another project like this from Jeremy Schmidt some day.

It's fantastic, guys. Thanks for the reminder, Evan. In love his Sinoia Caves CD, too. Great stuff.
