Since this is my view tonight:

The little dot in the distance is a lighthouse which is a mile plus off shore and built on an acre-sized rock:
Image
It's easily visible to my naked eye and in great detail through 8x42 binocs, but cellular telephone cameras, etc, etc so this is what it actually looks like:

Anthow, on this account, I'll end my night with an apropos, if obvious, choice. Bon nuit, mes amis.

I have a flac digital copy of this thanks to an STBCer (you know who you are you beautiful bastard). Ignore the dogshit digital art; this is one of the finest jazz exotica albums I've ever heard and I've heard a lot. A lot. So highly recommended. It immediately sets an inescapable mood and holds you there. One day I'll find an affordable copy of this on vinyl. Or an expensive one. Or any copy at all really. Maybe.

@Deaf - It was my pleasure. Glad you found something in there.

@Hatter - You are not wrong, sir. Been on a serious Chico kick lately, but even when I'm not, Tanganyika isn't far out of the rotation. More straight ahead than Polynesia but still chock full o' exotic tones.

@Spun - Quite beautiful and strange, which I find to be very intriguing. Digging the touches on the keys, nice solos above the more meditative patterns and textures.

now playing while I'm at work. Great new album from the Wizard. I'm playing that last track ''Mourning of the wizard'' on repeat at the moment. I picked up the LP yesterday, I'll be spinning that at home this weekend.

On the ride back from the airport from mondocon my friends girlfriend was listening to some insanely good psychedelic hazy dark garage rock, they are called LA WITCH, three exceptionally talented ladies from...yah LA, and I’m finally giving their record a good listen now on the iPod. If you like garage rock, 60s pastiche pop witha gloomy twist ala the cramps etc, music David lynch would listen to, seedy LA vibes and old school rock and roll, I HIGHLY recommend

@Spun - It's quite an exceptional recording, and that church in Austin has great acoustics:

If anybody wants to hear this send me a pm.

@deaf, is that the same Church we saw him at for the mondocon show? I picked up the cd from them this year and haven’t given it a listen yet.

Listening to this right now while I do some work. Gamera is really sweet. He is filled with turtle meat.

Yes, Central Presbyterian Church. It's a great listen. Although I missed that Austin show, the recording brings me right back to the shows I attended. Hoping we see this as an optional track on a blu-ray some day.
