Way back when vinyl was on it's way out I got this for $1. Somewhere along the line I accidentally weeded it. Now it's finally part of my collection again. The cost was 10 times as much as the first. Sealed, so not a bad deal IMO.

Beautiful dark score to a beautiful dark animation. I highly recommend both, you can hear the full ost at the discogs link and the whole animation is on YouTube. Surreal gothic science fiction, very classy stuff.
Holy damn, I want that so bad! Just listened to the whole thing on YooToobes, amazing. And those images! Will be needing to check out the film too asap - most definitely in my wheelhouse! :D

Thanks for dropping the wisdom @Dollar - but now, where the holy heck can I get that OG LP from '85?? :(((

I knew nothing about it until a stumbled across an eBay auction for the lp.

Woke up super late today, and I guess this one is a cool record to spin when you're still half awake. Great ambient doom jazz.

And now I'm on to this one, it's one of those new aquisition from last week's record fair. I thought ''oh, a Piovani here in the wild.... Perfume of the lady in black was so cool, I should pick it up''.

@jgibbs - Fully agreed on those deluxe textured Death Waltz sleeves -- they are just incredible in hand.

@Dollarhyde - Great to see you posting and dropping those top shelf recommendations!

Gotta share the love on this one, as I'm eternally thankful for @texasvinyl and @dollarhyde for introducing me to this album. It's The Mystery Kindaichi Band, which is said to be a Yuji Ohno project. It's the soundtrack for a Japanese TV series called The Adventures of Kosuke Kindaichi, which is based on a series of detective novels by Seishi Yokomizo. The TV series soundtrack is nothing short of spectacular, and seems to show Ohno-san at the height of his powers. It's best mix of spooky jazz/disco funk that I have ever heard, and I fall head over heels in love with the tunes every time I listen to it. The original LP on King Records from '77 is rare and expensive, but there was an official reissue in 2015 that is easier to obtain. There are also a couple recent 2LP bootlegs that have bonus tracks, but I can't speak to their quality. The original CD with said bonus tracks was released in 2000 by King Records. Below are the two of the more disco-oriented tracks that I adore, but the whole album is an eclectic treat of tunes that I just can't recommend enough:

@deafmetal : Man you certainly have been talking about it a lot. Maybe I ought to listen to it. but checking the price on discogs, I feel like if I love it, I won't be able to afford it :P

This is a compilation of 2 Popol Vuh releases ("Hosianna Mantra" & "Einsjäger & Siebenjäger"), released on a french label in 1975. Found at last week's record fair. it's great ! I noticed on the center label it says "volume 3". I checked and they released 3 such compilation of the "Discover cosmic" series. 1st one is a Klaus Schulze (a compilation of 2 collaboration releases : one with the Cosmic Jokers, and one with Ash Ra Tempel) and the 2nd one is a Ash Ra Tempel compilation ( 2 collab albums again). I dunno, I might have to track down those 2 first volumes.

@Nathan - Dolores is a tremendous Bohren LP. Great spin, man. Also, The Mystery Kindaichi Band is a fantastic LP itself. That's why Deaf is so proud of it; he should be. Speaking of...

@Deaf - For obvious reasons, I was always under the impression it was a Yuji Ohno project as well, but recently I read a Japanese blogpost that claimed it was composed by three different people: Hiro Takada, Yuta Narita, and Kentaro Haneda. It also listed several performers on the record, but no mention of Ohno. Not sure how accurate it might be, but I thought it bore mentioning.

Now someone give me an LP. Toot sweet. Hoarding bastards.

@deaf and @Mateo

I have read rumours of yuji ohno involvement but as Mateo states he seems to to have no direct credits on the album. I originally suspected it was yuji but I think now my suspicion is swayed the other way.

Secondly I don't think this is a ost but more something similar to an 'image' album. A popular thing in Japan particularly with anime, or even manga. An original album influenced by said anime or anime score, or sometimes reworked in an jazz or synth fashion.
Check the columbia digital trip synthesizer fantasy series for an example.

I'm going of track here but I'm pretty sure this is not the TV series ost, which I don't think ever got a release.

@Mateo 100% deadly serious my man ;)
