Gosh, really didn't like 'Us' folks. Eek.

Only thing I will say, even more than Get Out, this had a real feel of a half hour Twilight Zone episode which he maybe had for the new show and decided he could explore it at feature length.
Plus, waaaay to clever/allegorical to be actually scary. Anyhoozle... enough of my blarny! Be interested to hear all y'all reactions on this one.

This morning my gf asked me about US, since she'll never watch it as it's a horror movie, and wanted to know the plot. After exhaustively recalling pretty much every detail (and including some of my own 'what I think it's about' commentary) she decided that sounds amazing. And you know what? I thought so too!

So to be fair, I think owe this one another viewing/fair shake before I stick with my above reaction. We'll see.

I wanted to buy the set on Black Friday just so I could hear Alfonso's mix he made. I've heard mixed things on the doc. I'm not a huge documentary fan, I appreciate them but I have too many other movies to watch than a movie about the movies I want to watch if that makes any sense. I do love All the Colours of the Dark. Edwige <3

You are in for a treat! I bought the bluray from 88 Films last year and was really impressed with it. I'm curious what the print will look like. I've heard Warner owns it now in the US and is supposedly working on a new scan from better elements. I'd definitely double dip for better picture quality from the current blu.

I think it’s a total classic. It’s not perfect and there’s plenty of plot holes and many questions about the ending, but there’s so many references that i was like a kid in a record shop. Or myself in a record shop. Or something. It’s even got a Shaun of the Dead reference. I’m pretty sure it was a happy ending as well. The only thing I didn’t get was the Jeremiah 11:11 repeating plot point as I ain’t no bible scholar.

This has the same science fiction feel as Get Out and it’s older brother Being John Malkovic, where there’s definately something supernatural going on but it dosnt demand you understand it, only accept it and enjoy it. It’s a lush b-movie, film literate and shot beautifully

@scojo I've had a bluray of Zeder in my watch pile for over a year. I need to get around to that.


I haven't seen this film since the early 00's, I liked it back then but haven't had the urge to revisit, probably due to the onslaught of J-Horror in the years that followed. Well I picked up Arrows limited edition box set of Ring 1-3 & Rasen. The damn thing sold out before release date directly from Arrow's store and quickly sold out every where else with in the first week or two of sales. I'm glad I got a copy. The film was just as good as my foggy memory thought it was. What I was really impressed with was the restoration, the film looks fantastic, I was blown away with the clarity. I expected this to be a rough early digital shot on the cheap looking film but nope, it was shot on film and quite well too. I completely forgot that Hiroyuki Sanada was in the film and that guy seems to have aged gracefully.



Continuing my trek through Jackie Chan's filmography, Wheels on Meals was Saturday's entertainment. It's great to see Yuen Biao & Sammo Hung back with Jackie here, while this one doesn't reach the heights of Project A, they have some great scenes together. Directed by Sammo. Jackie and Yuen run a food truck in Spain, fall prey to a pick pocket who also happens to be the woman that unlicensed private eye Sammo is looking for. Some funny scenes here and there, the first half of the film can be a bit slow since it's lacking any real big action set pieces but it's all worth it for the final act. I watched a little bit of the English dub and the voice they chose for for Jackie was hilarious, it's almost 80's surfer bro.

Now a classic a see some of you spinning the score a lot. I have never seen it, nor heard the score.

I can't wait to see it. I'm a big fan of S. Craig Zahler. I loved his last two films and really enjoyed his script of the new Puppet Master for what it was.

Also I love The Serpent & The Rainbow, a film I always enjoyed but found a new appreciation for once it hit bluray. Lord of Illusions falls into that camp for me to. Enjoyed it when it came out, didn't watch it much but once I revisited on bluray I came to love it a lot more and I watch it at least once a year.

I'm a little torn on what to watch tonight. I have some HK martial arts films to watch, top contender is The Heroic Trio but I may pivot to some gialli and watch Fulci's The Psychic.

Also I watched the first two episodes of What We Do In The Shadows tv show and it's making me laugh which is what I wanted. Honestly you give me Matt Berry I will find enjoyment in what ever it is.

Oh god, I'm getting flashbacks... my friend and I were on a weekend bender and we took monster doses of acid and then went to the zoo for the day. I have no idea how we made it out of there alive, but we headed straight for the theater to then absorb Lord of Illusions. That day was so f'd. Just thinking about that film makes my skin crawl. I still listen to the soundtrack on CD though.
