Jackie Chan's Project A2
While not nearly as good as the first film, it was still very entertaining. Lots of great set pieces and fight scenes. The story was entertaining and there is an absurdly hilarious scene in a woman's home where there are 3 different groups of people hiding from each other. Recommended if you have not seen it and want some classic Jackie.

Some TV updates.

I finished True Detective S3. I found it quite good, it's no season 1 but definitely a step up from season 2. The acting was fantastic, Stephen Dorff and Mahershala Ali carried the series. The last episode completely drops the ball. I'm not going to talk about it here but the way they tied everything up did not work for me nor did the second half of the episode.

The Umbrella Academy. This one took a little bit to hook me but by episode 5 I was in. Ellen Page did a fantastic job in this and the character arc for Klaus was by far my favorite. If you like superhero stuff and weird off beat X-men characters then this show will be for you. If you don't like that then avoid it.

i also recently watched cohen&tate recently and thought about how much better it would have been with rutger hauer instead of adam baldwin.

possibly, i went in knowing nothing about it other than it was an eric red movie with roy scheider. but adam baldwin reeeaaalllllly drags it down.

Just got back from Captain Marvel. A lot of fun. Really good score also.

I was unable to make it to the theaters this weekend as I had to work the time but I'm hoping to check out Capt Marvel this week. I was talking with a friend on Friday and he had been completely swayed by the people saying it was a terrible film. Well he went to see it friday night and he wouldn't stop texting me about how amazing it was and how all the people he had read were so wrong. It made me laugh.

I was able to squeeze one film in Friday night



The Accidental Spy is one of Jackie's lesser films. There are still some fun action sequences but Jackie doesn't seem as engaged in this film and is kind of just doing his thing. The plot is awful and the acting is all over the place. I did watch the HK cut and not the US Dimension reworking (which apparently is even worse). It's a bit too long as well. I knew it wasn't going to be all that great due it being a later period Jackie film, it has some fun moments and is worth watching if you want to see more Jackie action but overall it's mediocre at best.

Captain Marvel was ok, but as it’s set in my formative years it came across as quite shallow; nine inch nails was never a T-shirt, it was serious bizniss and you don’t mess with the TRez. Ignoring all the insults to art and history, the film hangs together as a clear comic book film which only occasionally hangs up on its reliance on the rest of the exhausting marvel universe. I couldn’t give a shit if Thanos has the same chin as Mendelshon but I do care that Sam Jackson has managed to recreate his hair line from the Negotiator. And I did get the pulp fiction reference, but my 25 year old brother hasn’t seen pulp fiction. So half the film (literally every scene has a 90s reference) won’t make any sense for its target audience.

Also, Gervais’ afterlife is pretty great so far. Recommend
