@milliondollars, yeah parting with some of it took some convincing at first, but it helped pay the rent when I was laid off in 2009, so it's all good. And yes, it made my wife happy too. :)

As stated in another thread, I used to work for a Hip Hop store in Manchester.

I also ran & DJ'd at a Hip Hop night for 10 years called C'mon Feet. I will post up some of our old flyers which people might find amusing, we had a really good artist who had quite a vivid imagination. We mainly focussed on & booked UK artists like Jehst, Foreign Beggars, Klashnekoff, scratch DJ's such as Q-Bert, DJ Woody, Richie Ruftone. US guests, we had people like Masta Ace, Prince Paul & J-Zone.

Through our night, I was lucky to be support on the bill for acts like De La Soul, Mos Def, The Game, Yelawolf, The Pharcyde, etc.

I've always bought music from all genres but I don't buy too much Hip Hop anymore because I think it's gone a bit flat.

Like those above, I bought things like Killer Mike, Run the jewel, Kendrick Lamar & Madlib/Freddie Gibbs recently.

Plus one on this thread.

I bought my first rap record when I was 11 (in '84 - Run DMC's debut) and spent most of my formative years listening to it and catching some amazing shows. I still buy the occasional new stuff, but I am much more likely to put on Big Daddy Kane than Earl Sweatshirt.

i have Eazy E's - Eazy Duz It, Dr. Dre's - The Chronic (Original), Snoops - Doggystyle, Murder was the Case Soundtrack, 2pac's - All Eyez on Me, Outkast's Southernplayalisticadillacmusik RSD 2014 #21 & ATLiens, Jay Z's - Black Album, Cypress Hill's - Black Sunday,Ice Cube - Lethal Injection,Nas- Illmatic, of course Wu-Tang Clan's - Enter the 36th Chamber, and way too many more to name. I am 36 and grew up during the whole east & west coast rival gangsta rap shit, the 90's were the best decade for mainstream rap. But..... I live about 35 minutes from Memphis, met 666 Mafia several times, have Juicy J, DJ Paul, Gangsta Boo, La Chat, Indo G,Al Kapone, Project Pat, and many others from prophet entertainment, then most of them from Hypnotize minds when the Hypnotize Camp Posse & Prophet Posse were doing their thing as side projects withe 666 Mafia, was lucky enough to meet and get Lord Infamous' Autograph and pic with him before he died, R.I.P "Scarecrow" AKA Lord Infamous!!! Memphis rap is going no where, Yo Gotti is still keeping it alive as well as LIl Whyte,Frazier Boy. i have well over several hundred demos from 66 mafia in the early 90's and many other demos from rappers who never made it anywhere who should have.

oh yeah, my first 45 rap album was "the Fat Boys" with a song called "Here Comes Freddy" for Nightmare on Elm St.!!!

i will leave you guys with a little mid 90's dark satanic rap beat

Some of you guys have some goodies and NICE collections. I agree WHOLE HEARTEDLY that the 90's is really the pocket of hip hop. Of course, I think there is a golden nugget every now and then, but really they are rare. The thing that makes me mad is so many hip hop albums are like 12" singles and such. I found this pseudo cool shop near me that the guy was an old hip hop DJ and is selling equipment and his old LPs, but his organization sucks and he doesn't have pricing on anything. His method is show him what you want and then he will tell you a price. Ick.

ARGH! Don't laugh, but I am trying to find Salt and Pepa on more than a single or two. LOL.

@peek-a-boo One of them looks like the Just Ice - Back to the Old School cover. That was an amazing album. I forked over nine quid for that on import at Groove Records back in the day. I wish I still had that album.

A visit to my local Half Price delivered another gem today that's been on my wantlist for years. The Roots Come Alive, a 2LP live album from '99. I'm a big fan of Questlove and the Roots and have had the pleasure of seeing several of their live shows over the years.

Come Alive encompasses all that makes a Roots show dynamic and exciting. You don't see many hip hop live albums, but the Roots is no ordinary hip hop act. Their live instrumentation is tight, and they stay in the pocket from the first bar to the last. Sitting still while this is album is jamming is not an option.

He released an album on stonesthrow with dam-funk this year '7 days of funk', well worth checking if you liked doggystyle.

Sensational ‎– Corner The Market is my dope. Of course we all have personal taste, but the dirty minimalistic Tricky-esque beats make ME want to dance the lazy boy dance.

Sensational is great. He featured on the album 'subterranean hitz vol 2' on 'word sound records'. A brilliant 2lp comp which also features this track, one of my favourite alternative rap joints

You guys ever see Crooked? It was Wordsound's movie and Sensational had the starring role.

I haven't watched it in over a decade, but I remember digging it. Maybe I'll pop it in this weekend. It came coupled with the soundtrack (which is also great if you dig this stuff).

Necro - Sadist Hitz

A rap album with appearences by Jamey Jasta, Sean Martin ( both in Hatebreed) DJ Sid Wilson (Slipknot) Trevor Peres John Tardy (both in Obituary) Away (Voivod) Dan Lilker, (Brutal Truth, SOD, Nuclear Assault)80% of those metal musicians are LEGENDS. Amoungst others are the usual suspects Ill Bill, Sabac Red, Mr. Hyde and Goretex (all great rappers)
Necro produces his own beats, with obvious influences from 70s-80s horror/slasher movies. He raps at a blue streak with rhymes the level of Eminem and the delivery of a new york garbage man or something lol.

His beats are what really sets him apart sampling the likes of Fabio Frizzi, Ennio morricone, Goblin, John Carpenter. Really sinister sounding instrumentals.

^^ very impressive!

I owned most of these at one point of time. But back in 2006 when I was in college, I went into sell mode to make some quick cash and sold a shit ton of hip hop records. The ones I miss the most are these PLR records, all pretty rare nowadays and some worth a bit.

I do have that Pre-Fix For Death Picture disc though ;)

Monster Rally & Jay Stone. After a few listens I'm really digging this new EP. The EP is on the A-side with instrumentals on the B-side. Worth a listen.
