Have to admit this is a record I have being trying to get my hands on for years. Passed on about three copies of the original over the years due to scratched vinyl and battered sleeves. Had a few bootleg CDs but never vinyl. Having grown up watching the film on VHS with shitty sound quality, as long as it's pop/scratch free I'll be happy with a master from vinyl.

I remember seeing the The Boogey man in the theaters as a kid and it disturbed the hell out of me. As others have stated, the soundtrack is for certain a classic and has it's own unique tone. Very eerie atmosphere...almost a far away haunting quality. I have the original but it is kind of a mess...so I pre ordered the new one...55 bucks... a lot for a record

After listening to some of these samples (and more on the record labels page), I think I might bite the bullet and order The Boogey Man from OWS. International shipping costs suck all around, but I agree with Seb that this is probably a one time chance to get this soundtrack, and from the sound of it, I think it's something I'll be coming back to.

I've emailed Sara to get my discount code, as I've never asked for it, but without it, the soundtrack plus shipping to the US is $47. 10% off the vinyl would bring it down to roughly $44.

From what Seb said, it sounds like we need to organize and have someone email him once we figure it out. Who is volunteering to take the lead on this? That means collecting names, addresses, money and to make the big order once all that is done. That person is also going to need to be in the position to mail out these to everyone once the big package arrives.

Seb - it would be helpful if we could get an idea of how much savings there would be if we ordered say 10 copies for US delivery. Just thinking about this a little more, say we save $5 per copy if 10 are ordered, that's about what it would cost the person getting the order in the US to then ship out to the rest of us per copy, so it's a wash at that point. I'd say unless we're actually saving at least $5 per copy when it's all over, it's not really worth the effort of a group buy, but that's just me.

I'm happy to coordinate the order and mail out the records from my house once they arrive. I just bought a bunch of mailers/inserts so we can use those.

I am just guessing, but I am thinking the best we can hope is to keep it down to about $40 per record delivered, but that will depend greatly on the shipping/exchange costs. (see breakdown below)

so, my question is: is it worth it for folks to save $4 per record? (assuming @dumaisaudio has the correct estimate for direct buys and my estimate is correct for the group buy)

thoughts? my guess is that the group buy might not be worth the effort?

The shipping cost TO the USA from OWS is the key to all of this which Seb needs to shed some light on. With the exchange rate today, the cost to ship one record from OWS to the USA is $13.85. It all depends on how much lower we can get that cost (I'm guessing there is a point where it doesn't get any lower) and whether or not it's offset by the shipping within the USA.

But, I do plan to put in an order on thursday either way, so if anyone wants in, drop me a line at john AT freshoj DOT com. I would only charge cost for the US shipping/materials.

I figure worst case you only save a couple bucks, but maybe best case you save a little more. Either way, you might incur more risk with the double shipping, so it'll be a personal decision.

Shipping:

up to 10 records = 32,80 euro
From 10 to 20 records = 65,50 euro
etc

So as you can see, ordering together seriously cuts down shipping costs. (shipping one record costs 10+ euro but ordering 10 records only costs 32+ euro, not 100+ euro as many believe)
