A couple of days ago I watched Arlington Road again. Still a decent thriller. That ending probably couldn't have been made post 9/11. Refreshing though.

@ScoJ - First, I don't remember Arlington Road, or it's music, particularly well, but I do remember tomandandy's score to Killing Zoe as a younger version of myself wore that CD down to dust. Maybe I shall review all of the aforementioned. Second, Hell Comes To Frogtown is such a wild premise that every few years, I forgive it its sins and re-watch. Lastly, my wife, the lovely Mrs Sanboval, gave me the gift of flight, a long weekend at an Air BnB in the Hollywood Hills (with a view of the sign), and two live tapings of HDTGM. What a woman.

HDTGM was two years back now. Almost to the day. We saw Maximum Overdrive with Andy Daly and 7 Fast 7 Sevenious with Adam Scott. Both at Largo on the same night with just about an hour break in between.

Best Tim Curry role ever IMHO.

From the same director (Allan Moyle) as the later Pump Up The Volume with Christian Slater, which has a similar teens against authority theme of course....and, on another vinyl related note, the mid 90's film Empire Records too

The Times Square soundtrack, mostly new wave classics and a couple of original tunes can be picked up cheap, nice two disk gatefold release too

Recently watched the Cronenberg movie
'Maps To The Star's'

What a great little movie, Cusack and Moore are great as is the whole cast. Very dark take on Hollywood stardom and the misery that follows it.

AND the score! Really really liked it very cold wet ambient tones, dark and beautiful,from the great Howard Shore.

Been looking forward to this one, quite divisive I hear. Really enjoyed the director's previous two films.

(Ahh, Legend....what a flick. Is that the blu? Looks and sounds amazing in HD!)

It's a solid survival/suspense film, which was sadly mis-promoted as more of a horror flick. Pretty good, but didn't add up to an especially satisfying whole. The unanswered questions were fine by me - critics/commenters made way too much of this aspect, priming me for more of a head-scratching experience when it's actually a pretty straightforward (and familiar) premise. More of a moral tale than anything else.

I much preferred the similar but very little seen or discussed Irish film The Survivalist from a year or two back which had terrific suspense and far more interesting characters and story progression, with a satisfying (if horribly bleak) resolution.

Incidentally, I somehow got confused and thought It Comes at Night director Trey Edward Shults (whose debut film Krisha was an intense drama shot using members of his own family) also made They Look Like People - but no, not him. I strongly recommend that one - sort of a pre-apocalyptic NYC set horror about two friends reconnecting, and one is hiding a secret belief that people have started transforming into horrific creatures. Kind of like a buddy-comedy version of Jacob's Ladder!! Is he losing his mind, or is it real? Freaky, quite unnerving stuff. With some laughs!

Legend of Hell House was fantastic. I had never seen it before. Now I understand what everyone was talking about. Also that score!
Also the Abominable Dr Phibes I thought was excellent.

This weekend I am going to see the 3D version of Terminator 2 in the cinema. Looking forward to that one. When I was 11 or 12 I got to see it on the big screen as well. I never forgot that screening :-)

Haul from the UK's FrightFest festival last weekend... saw South Korean action movie The Villainess, which I enjoyed for its blend of Nikita, Old Boy and The Raid... along with some domestic drama scenes (!)

Now need to decide which of these to watch first.

Advice? :)

I really enjoy Ash Vs Evil Dead for what it is. Not sure it's the best thing on your sweet, sweet pile, but of the ones ive seen, it's the one that I would return to the most.

What a movie! Has to win multiple Oscars! And I see a big future for that young actor Furlong!
Great score as well.
Why haven't I heard more people about this masterpiece?
