Not much love for the digital recently.

Man I love this film. If it wasn't so damn long I'd suggest a sync. I was a fan of the Waxwork artwork for this.

'Mark Fondles Cross' amuses me. A strange bit accurate title.

I'm probably digging this more than ever.

Believe it or not, while everyone else is enjoying the 2017 version, I'm trying to binge the previous 2 seasons, as it took until last Saturday to convince Mrs "Brody" to give it a chance!

Nice spins, Chief. I still have my original TP and TPFWWM CDs as well. I really like the Salem's Lot score as well. I just re-watched the BD recently, and I still love it, but it does take a long time to get going. Pretty much until the second episode/installment/whatever. Not a problem for me, but it could make for a trying sync.

Fantastic series of CDs called ECCENTRIC SOUL: The Tragar & Note Labels, via the Numero Group label. 20 volumes - currently listening to No.20 which features the banging 'Tipping Strings' by The Knights, as featured in the Elijah Wood/Nic Cage crime comedy caper The Trust. Tune!

Yes! Numero Group is a terrific label and Eccentric Soul is a crucial series if you are interested in that music. I have every one of these from Capsoul onward. Big Mack is another real standout for me.

I think the important takeaway here that I only live two hours away from a vinyl buddy with a pool!

@Spun - Agreed, I still have yet to even find the repress. Fight of Love is just heaven. How great is that trumpet theme?

@Mateo - Haha, it's a neighborhood pool down the street, but I'm not complaining on a day like today.

I play this less often than Steve Moore's score to Cub, released around the same time. Listening to it now, I need to correct that.

Well said. it's a corker.

Currently 'spinning' the digital of this one...

Think I may have posted about this one before - guy who now plays in Geoff 'Portishead/Drokk' Barrow's band >BEAK - but before that had a promising electronic solo outing of his own, that is very much like Drokk meets Mogwai... glacial synth stuff.

There is a limited 12-inch floating about if you can track one down, otherwise give it a whizz on Bandcamp

Morning commute listening to the expanded creepshow release from la la land which can be had on iTunes for like $9 or so. First 34 tracks are the same listing as waxworks, but there's another ten or so library tracks afterwards that were used as extra incidental music or diegetic tracks, including the awesome disco nonsense Ed Harris dances to in the beginning.

I had the original release for a while, happy the upgrade was digitally avaialable for these hot summer mornings.

Listening to this rejected Halloween H20 score this morning (what else on a summer morning?). I really like what Ottman was getting to do, and the orchestral take on the theme is worth the price of admission.

that orchestral theme is great, and luckily still preserved in the final cut of the film for the opening. i think there are a few other cues that survived as well, but a lot of that film is supplemented with Beltrami cuts from scream and some others i think...which isn't bad at all either, but Ottman did have some really nice stuff on there that did get cut.

Ottman has a cello riff thing he uses a lot in his scores that i always dig, and you can hear shades of his eventual X-men theme (X2 and on) in there a few times. kind of like once you realize John Williams has some basic horn lines and bridge motifs he comes back to a lot, or Elfman and his clarinet/Oboe bits.

Running errands on an overcast Northwest morning so I'm living that smooth life with a couple of albums by the great Bob James aka the most illegally sampled man in music history.

Looking at the Italians Do It Better site, they have a bunch of label CDs for $3.00, such as some of Johnny Jewel's music for Twin Peaks ("Windswept"). They even have Symmetry's "Themes for an Imaginary Film" 2-CD set for $3.00. Worth checking out.

Joe Hisaishi's incredible score for HANA-BI.

Swooningly wonderful, I want to live in this music....

@ScoJo

hisaishi! Nice.

I vaguely remember the movie I only saw bits off it, a friend of mine was in love with the movie.
All I remember is a very cool looking beat Takeshi and some brilliant pixilation (live action animation) on a beach.

@Dollar

Re-visit sir! You won't regret it. One of the very best films of the 90s, and as I say, the score is something very special. Hisaishi is a boss.
