After a small hiatus I am back posting. I was in California for two weeks having a fantastic road trip with only my 17 year old stepson and myself. I haven't been in the States since I was 15 and that was 22 years ago.
Now a lot of catching up on this board. And finally some time to spin some records. This year has been a quiet year for me spinning wise because of life-stuff getting in the way. I just haven't been able to play a lot of wax. Anyways.

He's still spending hundreds to refurb it properly, but it's still a heck of a thing to see a TT of that quality with a $10 price tag across from it.

The synth score for this awesome 80s Ozploitation killer-boar pic is fantastic, by Iva Davies. Very reminiscent of Boswell's horror work, and with shades of Tangerine Dream and Jack Nitzsche's Starman in it's more gentle/romantic parts - yes, it has those! I'm now going to dash off and try and find the movie on Blu, as I think I only have an old DVD rip of it round here somewhere....I remember how stylish and brutal it is, but I really wanna see where those emotive cues fit in!

Finders Keepers put out so much great stuff, and I'm a long time fan. But something about this one wasn't screaming 'essential' to me - maybe the sleeve, and the fact that I'd never heard of Gerardo Iacoucci. Regardless, a friend tipped me off that it's actually quite fantastic, a compilation of cuts from four separate library releases in the 'Avventure' series, this ranges from fuzzed-psych bangers to experimental sound pieces that recall Morricone's Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. I love it, will be getting many many spins and I recommend highly for fans of Italo scores, heavy drum-fuelled library jazz and funk, and the off-centre world of obscure Italian library. As usual, Votel curates an exemplary sampler and provides superb sleeve notes, all at a nice price. Gotta love FKR!

@scojo : Gerardo Iacoucci is co-composer on two of Four Flies' releases under pseudonyms. first one is 'URBANISTICA' by Iacoucci with Mario Vinciguerra under the name 'M.Fusciati' and the second one is 'CARNET TURISTICO' with Amedeo Tommasi where Iacoucci signed under the pseudonym 'H. Caiage'. That's all I know of the guy but because of that I would have stopped and checked previews of that Finders Keepers release if I'd known about it. Now that I DO know about it I'll check it out !

It seems WeReleaseWhateverTheFuckWeWant has split my order and shipped my 'Musique pour le futur' separate from my Ghost in the shell. Spun it first right when I came home from work. it's okay, I'll revisit soon to form an opinion but at first, it's similar to the vibe I'd get from their Dark Star release, in a way. Bleeps and drones, scifi musique concrete. I must admit I bought it mostly because I wanted to justify the shipping cost by splitting it on two items. it's nice but not overwhelming.

Then played the Evil Dead 7''. I somehow had not realized this was a single sided 7''. In retrospect, I shouldn't have paid that price for it (ended up costing 22$cad, for 2min 50sec), but it's a great theme. Can't wait for a full length release of the material.

Now spinning Mad Monster Party. Such a great great release from Waxwork. Fantastic artwork and pakaging, great music, Maybe some of my favorite, recently released, Jazzy soundtrack along with Himmel Og Helvete

That's a nice looking haul (and parquet) you've got yourself there, Nathan. I shied away from the LoDuca due to the pricinh, but I remain jealous of those of you who did not. I'm not sure if I've admitted this here, but I've never seen Madison Monster Party. Heck, I didn't even know what it was when it got announced. I'll remedy that someday.

I got it in one buy together with the score to Start Trek. It contains interview by Gene Roddenberry with William Shatner and others. Because I am watching the original Star Trek series at the moment (halfway season 3) it contains some nice trivia about the show. It is an amusing listen, especially when Roddenberry talks about his squabbles with the studio. For instance he wanted that 50 percent of the cast was female, the studio told him it could be max 30 percent... He also wanted to cast a woman as senior officer next to Kirk, the studio however didn't think a woman would be right for that position. They gave him the option to remove the one with the ears or the woman :-)

Having recently gotten hold of RIDDLES OF THE SPHINX by Mike Ratledge, and really digging it a lot, I've been thinking about how much love the Italian/US electronica scores get and not so much the British stuff. So pulled out this cracker from Robert Wyatt - electronic score for a 70s documentary about animal cruelty in society. It's really great. I'll maybe go on a streak with this stuff, if I can keep it going....watch this space.

Ok, you axsed ferrit!

This one is ESSENTIAL guys. Short and sweet 12" on Spinney which was reissued a few years back, Side B has a lovely suite of electro horror ambience but man, the A side is the real juice!! One of the most badass opening title sequences/themes in horror history! All from the superb cannibal-in-the-London-underground picture which yanks know as RAW MEAT (amazing title alert!)

From the director of Dead and Buried, and Vice Squad. Music is by Wil Malone, writer and arranger from 60s thru 80s who worked with EVERYONE Inc Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Kate Bush! Look him up- and his one solo LP of drippy psyche is a big favourite of mine...
