I've been really spacing out to these LPs this morning - which go together really well as they're both experimental electronic albums from around the same time, late 70's.

I've been curious about the Ratledge for years, sure I've seen it pop up around here occasionally. It's superb, lovely warm arpeggiated electronics, very meditative and features a woman's voice intoning hypnotic prose from the film.

The second is more unearthed music from Habibi Funk by Algerian composer Ahmed Malek - 'The Electronic Tapes' is sourced from experimental demos found by the composer's family/this German label, who commissioned Berlin composer FLAKO to complete work on them. Whatever the process, the result is absolutely fascinating. And pretty hard to describe. I give it a massive two thumbs up though (still available from their bandcamp...) I've also ordered their Modern Music release, which sounds great!

L'Ascenseur (The Lift) - Dick Maas
Milan – A 242
1984

This and Razorback go really well together, so glad I took a chance on these way back. Both excellent scores worth adding to your collection.

@scojo inspired this one

@ScoJo - I can heartily second those recommendations. Riddles is sublime trip and Electronic Tapes is a fascinating listen though I, too, am a little fuzzy on the provenance of the sounds therein. I've been meaning to seek out more Males, but haven't made the time.

@Tim - POMPELMO!!

Red Faction Armageddon - Brian Reitzell
Sumthing Else Music Works – SE-3011-2
2011
I think this is my one and only gaming soundtrack. I only have it because Brian Reitzell of Hannibal fame composed it.

Malek was the bitch's bastard.

I'll buy anything from that label going forward. So fire, Kurt Russell and Billy Baldwin are running through in slo-mo to a Hans Zimmer score!

From the sleeve notes it does seem that the tapes consisted of fairly bare bones electronic experiments, and fLako composed music around them. Interesting to try and pick apart...

Indeed...POMPELMO!!!!!!!! :-D

Decided to revisit this because I've been playing a bit of Wolfenstein The New Order and these games and games like Fallout always go well with old jazzy music or things like Edith Piaf etc.

Step one. Drop needle onto Stratosfear.
Step two. Casually immediately yet unknowingly proceed to the letter box and take TG 74-78 out of it.
Step three. Stride.
