Not the typical Golan-Globus/Cannon Films release, but regardless it's one of my favorite films from their catalogue. Henry, Wanda, and a few drinks in a truly original story that has aged like fine wine!

Really enjoyable, and Carter Burwell is always in top form. Long live the Coen Brothers.

I don't know what it is. The characters are not believable, the fight choreography is generally terrible, the guy that plays Danny doesn't seem particularly athletic or good at martial arts, it's super cheesy, there are plot issues, and yet I watched the whole season in two days. Can't explain it.

Had to test out an old vhs player through an even older projector today, for a friend's theatre project. Ended up turning my space into a Quatermass and the Pit installation for the next 3hours. I adore this live broadcast, 1950s six part serialized version of Kneale's story! Still mesmerising and thought provoking almost 70years on!

Non-spoilery thoughts on Kong: a fun giant monster romp, but with a corny script that gets a bit hokey at times. The overall "science" involved is sketchy, but it usually is in these types of films. It was enjoyable, especially the monster battles, and the various creature CGI worked for me. John C Reilly hams it up spectacularly as the comic relief, but he gets a nice send-off in the end. Sam Jackson has his "glaring eyes" shtick down pat. Many humans are devoured in creative ways. I felt the score was overly generic and forgettable. Quite a different experience from when I saw Peter Jackson's King Kong, and immediately sought out the OST by James Newton Howard. There was even some drama back then, because Howard Shore's score had been pulled by the studio? Anyway, yes, stay after the credits if you watch this one.

I liked Kong: Skull Island. Glad you did, too. It is, as you say, pure fun. It's everything I liked about 2015's Godzilla without the buying into its own overt seriousness that film suffered from. Good stuff.

I've been watching Incorporated over the last few days, and I like it a lot. The story is fairly generic, but it has an interesting vision of the near-future and some decent production values for a SyFy series. I just read yesterday that it hasn't been renewed for a second season, unfortunately, so once I get through the remaining couple of episodes, I might end up a lot more annoyed!

Also recently watched Ghost In The Shell (preparing for the new movie) and was quite taken by the soundtrack. Is it worth getting (there's a vinyl copy, although it was never officially released on vinyl as far as I know, for reasonable money on Discogs)?

I also revisited Ghost In The Shell soundtracks last weekend. Its not as good as Akira (but then again what is) but it is worthy of repeated listenings. There is only a bootleg LP, quality is Ok printing is a bit blurry. I have an original japanese CD as well that has the same material. I think I saw Milan is doing the new soundtrack so I imagine that the original will not be far behind. (hopefully)

Ghost in the Shell boot - I saw this in the racks of a local store this week, but I just couldn't do it. The album art LITERALLY looks like a 29kb image search result, with photoshop work added by someone who has had nails driven into every orifice (including, most pertinently, their eyes and hands....)

Just couldn't do it. Hoping for an offish release super soon.

Kawai's Ghost in the Shell score is probably my favorite anime score. I listen to it a lot. Still hard to believe there isn't a proper LP out there.

@Deaf: Funny you say this about Adrienne - I had similar thoughts when I watched The Fog last week. :)

Watching Escape this time I realized how good Lee Van Cleef is in it. And while it's great to have Tom Atkins I just wished he had a little bit more of a fleshed out character.
But all in all just thoroughly entertaining.

Just left the Cameo cinema in Edinburgh, cool place. Saw GHOST IN THE SHELL.
Well, I wasn't bored!
If you are into vivid visuals and 12 cert gun play and mostly looking at SJ (the other less pretty one!) youll have fun!
As for the score however, I'm sad to report it was a total dud for me-esp. given it's predecessor. Tron Legacy mashed with Zimmer/modern sci fi scoring in a wholly bland/unoriginal way. Gave the film no unique flavour at all. Just my reaction dudes, one guy whizzin in the breeze etc...

Hey @ScoJo, welcome back to Scotland. I went to see Free Fire with some friends last night in Glasgow.

Non-spoiler summary:
It kind of plays out like, if at the point Joe gets to the warehouse at the end of Reservoir Dogs, there was still 90 minutes to go, and no-one could shoot for shit. It's good fun, and the performances are good/very good for what it is. I felt a bit of a lull in the middle, but overall it was just a good, fun film. Copley looks like he's having a hoot with his character. It's maybe the least Wheatley film of his that I've seen (not seen High Rise for reference).

Musically a few bits stood out, including the use of a particular song/artist. I'd need to listen to the score outside of the film to see if it's a good listen in isolation.
