Weird synchronicity! Sorting out my OSTs currently, and literally just pulled my OG bootleg and the RSD re-issue out to actually compare them! HA!

Let me know how they compare @ScoJo. My pressing is noisy as hell, particularly at the beginning of both sides, though it probably just needs a good cleaning.

Latest arrival (pun half-intended). I dig all the Frahm/Arnalds/Johannsson releases that I've picked up so far. I'll group them all together, even though I suspect a trained ear might tell you they're very different.

I'll also say this, the Hardy Tree and Jon Brooks albums are infinitely better listens on wax than digitally. Both astounding works of beauty.

A much-neglected DW release in my collection. I'm inspired to give it a spin by @deaf, who played it a couple of pages back.

@chief - Manchester Morgue is the business! Sorgini broke the mold with that one, and they just don't make grooves like that anymore.

Also, the local theater is screening a 35mm print of Shogun Assassin tonight, and might try to make it -- if my gf doesn't cut me in half first...

@deaf, I don't know what I was thinking writing it off as a 'lesser' DW release, its a killer score.

Probably my last spin of today. I love these comps.

@chief -

In a nutshell, 2011 bootleg is a lot brighter. Not sure how it compares to the 1980 promo original, but most likely straight vinyl-to-vinyl master?

The Cinewax red vinyl sounds good! Just after "You cannot escape the Shogun!" at end of track 1 there's a big "JJJZZZHAAAANGG!!!" sound effect that sounds awesome, nice and crisp and no distorting. And the bass on the following track is deep and synthy and yessss. I'd def say give yours a deep clean, mine's a bit crackly too.

But damn, that package right? Probably the most badass poster I've ever received with a record. Shit, I might just have to throw it up into one of my new cinema frames :D

@Scojo they do look snazzy, and are amazingly important in reminding my middle aged brain to change the speed :)

Also got the Hana back up and running. They couldnt find out what the channel issue was so chalk it up to the universe. Happy to have it back and sounding lovely.

Why aren't there hip hop records like this anymore. For me, as good as it gets

This is the repress from a couple years back with the 3d lenticular jacket, excellent pressing

Tex and Deaf, I couldn't agree with you gents any more on this; Dr Octagon is a perfect 10.
