Wonderful film -- an underrated Gilliam treasure, imho. Also, excellent score by Michael Kamen.

This is one of my favorite films, i watched it a few months back for the first time in ages and i forgot how many idiosyncrasies i adopted from it when i was a kid, even just turns of phrase and stuff like that.

Probably one of my favorite Kamen scores too, the fanfare (the baron lives and dies again) and the waltz between him and venus are among the best.

Also Jonathan Pryce when he meets the hero soldier played by Sting..."Have him executed at once, This sort of behavior is demoralizing for the ordinary soldiers and citizens who are trying to lead normal, simple, unexceptional lives. I think things are difficult enough as it is without these emotional people rocking the boat."

@Hatter - Great to see another fan of the film, and well said. I screened it on the wall of a loft party a long time ago, and it was a highlight of the night. Good times.

This is reeling me in right now:

Creep factor 11, and keeping me guessing. I thought I had a pressing defect on the second track, but it turned into some very unexpected percussion(!). Hearing some wailing drones and chugging synths of unknown origin, along with some lovely keyboard melodies tucked here and there between the sounds-like-metal-scraping horror soundscapes. Recommended.

My parents took my Brother and I to see the Baron's titular adventures in the cinema as kids. It was a spectacular experience. We applauded. Even in my head now, the memory stiil oozes the magic I felt as a child. Whether I realized it at the time or not, then began my lifelong fascination with all things Gilliam. It's a great film and score.

I have not seen it ...hard to image it being overlooked as it was quite a big film production.

Great looking reissue from Newbury comics. Really like this Anderson.Paak album, it's just good all around music. I prefer it to Venice. Saw him on a side stage at Austin City Limits festival last October. It was easily one of the best shows of the weekend. Funky, fun, and he took a turn behind the drum kit and tore it up.

They did a stripped down set for the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series:





I have my like new black vinyl copy of Malibu listed, if someone wants it's $26 shipped in the states.

Yeah it is a good one!
Over the years I had at least two or three sealed but the pressings always seemed to have a bit of low surface noise....I might be a bit picky about it. That is why I have always been after a japan issue with no luck though. The score and film grew on me over the years...I liked it as a kid but really appreciate it's old fashion sensibilities now.

This sounds pretty damn sweet. Really nice packaging synergy between the two TP releases, you can definitely feel the Lynch aesthetic coming through in his approval of these designs.

Also sounding good, although my copy has about 20seconds of intermittent "scuffing" sound under the music at the very start of Side A. Will give it a good rinse later and see if it shapes up. Beautiful artwork on this, couldn't be happier on that front.

Plenty of drama and unusual arrangements... don't normally go a bundle on orchestral scores, but a blast of this on the DFC indicated it may be something special.

Reflecting with a damn-fine cup of coffee on a fog-shrouded morning here in the Pacific Northwest:

"In Heaven", as they say? ;) I have never even touched original vinyl copies of either Twin Peaks album, although I have two ancient CD's that have been spun nearly into oblivion. Now owning these two svelte pieces of wax feels quite good -- damn good, in fact. This latest slice of pie sounds warm and buttery, yet I know it's filled with poison, if not pure evil...

A bit over the moon right now with these light & dark bookends from Death Waltz. Both of my copies sound great. Haters gonna hate, but I feel nothing but love here.

Over the past few years Cliff Martinez has gone from a composer who's work I enjoy, to appointment listening, and he is now one of my absolute favorites. I think I have two VGM scores on wax. This is one of them.

Although I'm sure some of you have Frizzi-fatigue by now, this is a top want of mine. I have been after the original Cinevox 45 for a while now, if only to have the jazzfunk rumbler "The Smuggler" on vinyl. It's also the cut they included in the previous F2F live shows much to my amazement:

The full album was only ever released on CD a few years ago, and it's a real treat. Bubbly disco funk abounds, along with full-on Marvin Gaye worship on some of these cuts. If you enjoyed Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera's Vai Gorilla, then this one is a must-hear. My copy is mostly brown wax and sounds clean. I also like the 80's-looking Beat Records art design on the back of the sleeve. Nice touch.

@Nathan - Regarding the Shark LP, the tracks are definitely more action movie-oriented than horror, and heavy with mid-80's cheese. I think the album comes off a bit polarizing for fans of Frizzi's horror scores, especially reading some online comments, but it's an interesting relic of those times. Not his best work by any means, but this is the same Fabio Frizzi that went on to create the score for Superfantagenio in '85-86. ;)

Enjoying all the Pentagram Home Video tracks that I hear. Some down-tuned yet funked-up keys on these tracks, quite good. Also, I am still digging the WBYK art design on these releases. Almost seems like a weird library record sleeve. DW/Mondo - Thank you for including a download card with this LP.
