Watched Poltergeist with family last night, what an amazing score. My niece was annoyed by the last 20mins, firmly of the opinion that movie should have ended with Carol Anne's rescue. Blasphemy!!

Yeah, great film ScoJo. I still love the special effects too. I always like reading about all the drama about who actually directed it. Was it Hooper or Spielberg? Who knows!

@BPW - Chinatown is so damn good.
@Chris - That might be DWRC's most under appreciated score. Glad that they put the CD in there, too; the extra tracks are pretty golden.

Fully agreed. The full album on CD has received a multitude of listens in the deafmobile. You've all seen the documentary? It's fucknuts.

Yep, this really flies pretty much under the radar - but the score's just soo good!
Still need to watch the doc.

@ChrisMcQueen007 - IMHO, the documentary is more of an excursion into the limitless bounds of mental illness, rather than any kind of constructive analysis of The Shining.

100%. In fact, as an analysis of The Shining, the film's a disappointment, but it works much better as a series of character studies for which the gateway/catalyst is The Shining. The score, as stated, is dynamite.

Wow.

First spins of this and it's pretty freakin' incredible. Heavy and intense - starts off with some guitar licks in the same vein as Lucifer Rising, but quickly evolves down deep into a dark ambient sound world with tribal rhythms and low sonic textures, with almost a vibe of some of the Blade Runner LP stuff - I started to imagine it would be a perfect alternate soundtrack for Michael Mann's '86 MANHUNTER.

Yes...it's that good!!

So I just listened to this, ScoJo, and it is really good. My God the swirling rhythms alone are worth the listen. Great call on Manhunter as well. Granted the seed was already planted when I listened, but it would fit right on in. I have to confess to not knowing Beausoleil at all so thank you for that. Now I'm going to listen to his score to Lucifer Rising and read about the Manson Murders.

A near perfect outing from this collection of absolute legends. The nineteen and a half minute Concerto de Aranjuez alone is worth the price of admission.
