I can think of few better Stephen King adaptations in the horror genre (Kubrick's The Shining, Salem's Lot and Misery, if you include that in the genre). I have a friend who believes its the best ending of any horror film - I'm sure I don't agree with that, but the final act is usually the downfall of King adaptations but not this time. If I'm right though, they changed the ending for the film?

If I'm right though, they changed the ending for the film?You're right, Chief, that the ending of the film is different than the novella. It's a bit more sensational, but a fine change overall. It fits the tone of the film, I think.
I've watched both versions and have a slight preference for B&W - the effects are more convincing and the mood is altered a little by being B&W. There's not many horrors I'd recommend to anyone, but this is a recent one that I definitely would.

If I'm right though, they changed the ending for the film?I agree yes, The best King adaptations have been done by Darabont : The Mist, Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. The Mist is actually my favorite film of that year (2007. wow 10 years already). The ending was changed and King has mentioned that he liked it better than the original ending.
